Hi all what is your favorite thing to do on your first day Parks hang around resort shopping I am looking for some ideas of what might do...

I love the dining options at EPCOT but find one day touring in the park to be enough on each vacation. To give us a chance to eat a TS dinner in EPCOT twice, we always make a dinner reservation for someplace in EPCOT the first night of our stay and go into the park just to eat.

well we fly from quite a distance, so first day usually starts early AM, get into room around 2pm. Find food and hang by the pool to unwind, if everyones up for it we do illuminations.

Oh yeah nearly forgot, we do our grocery shopping the first day to get it out of the way. (we're pretty wild :rotfl2: )

We go and do grocery shopping as soon as we get into the room (always rent a car). If we're staying at BWV, we usually go to Epcot that night.

We normally get in late mornings and go right to the parks after check-in . Then go get the rental and to the store . After we get the room done for the night we will hit the fireworks somewhere and get that taken care of.

We check in at VWL and depending the time, we will just stay there until the room is ready. We sit in the lodge and watch people come in and stare up. We stroll over to the villas and soak up the ambiance there and then head back to the lodge and sit in the lobby and then go back to the villas...........
Then around 4 pm we go shopping and then we go to our room!

After, if we have APs we head off to a park, varies which one. Can't wait!

we generally try to fly in around mid-morning. first thing is to make a stop at super wal-mart on the way to the resort for some lite grocery shopping. then, check-in early - making any additional room requests with the front desk, and head to one of the parks (my favorite is MK - but in JUN we went with AK since we were dying to ride Everest for the first time...). normally we'll have ADR's for dinner in one of the parks in the evening, and then we'll hang out afterward for Wishes / Fantasmic! / Illuminations - depending on where we ate.

We usually get in a little after noon. Last time we just hung by the pool and had an easy afternoon before turning in early. The previous year we went into Epcot ans saw a few things that afternoon.

We tend to arrive between noon and 2 p.m. Our routine tends to vary depending on whether a room is ready when we arrive or at some point later in the day. If it's ready when we arrive we get our things to the room, and then we head someplace to get something to eat. If the room is not ready we tend to head for a park (usually EPCOT) get something to eat and hang around until our room is ready.

The past few years we never pre-planned where to eat but out next trip (next week) we are going to make ressies someplace as we've noticed that its getting harder and harder to just pop in someplace and expect to get seated.

The rest of that first day is usually spent at either EPCOT or MGM.

For us, depends on whether we have APs or not.

If so, we head to nearest park for few hours until the room is ready; then get settled & enjoy dinner @ resort.

If not, we do Chef Mickey's for dinner; think it's a great way to start off a trip & takes the pressure off for the charactar interaction, followed by a loop on the monorail...early to bed & good to go for next am EMH (we still tend to commando, wonder how long it takes to break the habit, post DVC:sunny: ).

We check in and then go to the spa at SSR. Since we fly from the west coast, and usually take the red eye, that usually means we get to the resort by 8am. The room is almost never ready by then, so we go to SSR spa, have a wonderful massage and go to the locker room to use the sauna or the jacuzzi and then shower, change and go on our way. It took us a couple of trips to realize this is the best way to start our trip. We're relaxed, rejuvinated and if we don't get into a room right away to freshen up, that's ok too.
We also usually have dinner reservations somewhere in Epcot for the first night.

This is just how I plan to start my June trip! I'm also thinking a pedicure mid-week might be just the ticket......... :lovestruc
