Ok well just got off the phone there is no 50 point thing but there is 100 points

It will be (1120 down)
144 month
388 year dues (gcv)
My rep Cathy Leahy was nice an helpful I would suggest her to any one.

this is for 100 points witch will get you squat at the grand lol... make sure you look at those point charts so your not disapointed people..
and yes i do own dvc.. even at the Grand.

100 is good for OKW and AKV but not the GCV unless you travel during the week at non- peak times.

dvc direct an the points are perfect we never go at the times when we would spend 55 a night when we can get it for 14 a night just at our times

100 points can certainly be a good start. If you're smart with points and stay in studios during the week that can get you 6.6 nights a year. We started with 125 and added 50 and would still like more, but 175 is workable.

ty all well i wont be able to know till sep if it will all work out, but ya I am happy.

The people on the DVC boards are talking more and more about how close the Grand is to being sold out. Even those who don't generally believe such talk from guides.

As a shorthand for wondering what company someone has talked to (resale vs DVC), at this time, 25 is the lowest you can buy with resale. So if you're being told 100, then that's the new level that DVC is selling directly.

But if the rumors are true, it's going to be resale to get into the Grand by September. Which isn't a bad thing at all, though the financing is much harder when you have to get it on your own. (FYI Jade, if financing is an issue, DVC has been getting a little tougher in the last year. If it's a question for you, think about saving up more than just the 10% downpayment, as people have recently been asked for more than that)

hmm i'm still on the fence here.. I just didn't see lots of people flocking to the DVC centers while I was there but that was a small peice in time.. The resorts are booked up though and not due to people who own at the gran but people who own at other resorts booking at the 7mo window... as much as i hate to say it.. I wish due to the size of this resort that it would be taken out of the DVC equation and only allow Grand owners to book there. i'm not having to rethink how i travel to Disneyland.... no more spur moment ideas for this resort it has to be as planned 11 mo out as long as other resorts are allowed to fill it up... it's just not the same as the other resorts in my opinion and a downside to this property.

i can't edit my own post still arrrgggg.... I'm NOW having to rethink the way i travel..

Ok I am confused! I thought starting cost for any DVC is @$ 17 K. So what are ya'll taking about exactly, please? TIA

You should be able to edit your own post. Does the edit button not show up for you? Maybe it is a computer issue?

Nope, we just bought OKW direct from DVC (contract good to 2057). 100 points for $90/pt. So, that's $9000. Had to put $900 down and they financed the rest at 10.75%. We got 2009's points along with 2010's points. So, we're spending 5 nights in a one bedroom at VGC in December. :goodvibes

I have also heard they are selling VGC (direct) at 100 minimum point buy in. That's around $9,700 to $11,200 depending on the pricing at the time.
You can also buy in for much less by getting a resale which puts you in the system at no minimum (well, smallest contract is 25 points) but VGC points aren't that available on the resale market yet.

Considering that most stays at DL are shorter than WDW I think it's better to say you need to make certain the points will cover the stay you want. My 4 nights in a studio is 81 points and that includes a weekend night in choice season so it's not the lowest. 100 pts could very well be enough for a person at VGC.

DVC is a points based system so the starting cost will be based upon what the minimum purchase requirement is and how much it costs per point. There isn't a fixed amount. Currently they are allowing buy-in's at 100 pts. Then it will depend on what resort for what the total cost will be.

Also - resale purchases of add-on contracts that current owners are selling could allow a person to join DVC for as little as 25 pts

As others have said you can get in for much less than that. I have only bought points direct from Disney. But resale is an option to get in cheaper.

When is it 14 per night? The points in 2010 for Adventure season during the week are 15/night, and they are going up to 17 in 2011.

Not me. As much as I would love to spend every trip to DL at VGC's, part of the reason I love DVC is the flexibility. I don't have a problem planning ahead, it's part of the fun of a Disney trip for me. For the spur of the moment trips we just get a Good Neighbor hotel or use points at the DLH or PP. Any spur of the moment trips would be shorter anyway so using these other two options is fine by me. Besides, I'm sure another DVC will be coming ... sometime. :goodvibes
