DVC Website Down Hard?

Another frustrated Mac user here. Thanks to everyone who has contacted MS about this. I, unfortunately, do not have acess to any other type of computer. Hopefully, it gets resolved soon.

Have a great day everybody.:D

Just received this e-mail from DVC web services:
Dear Jean,

Thank you for contacting Member Services.

We have reported various issues about the Disney Vacation Club Member website,
especially with
respect to those users who are using Apple computers. We are researching this
issue and will
hopefully have it resolved shortly.

Best Wishes,
Tom

They are finally admitting there is a problem so maybe there is hope!

If a website properly complies with the published standards for HTML, Java, and Javascript, it will work properly on any platform, regardless of the which browser and regardless of which version of Windows, Mac OS, or Unix.

It's really dumb for developers to write bad code and then to perform limited testing. Just because a Web site appears to work on a popular environment, such as MSIE under Windows XP. is no guarantee that it will run on other enviroments -- or even on future versions of MSIE and Windows.

The Mac has a single digit percentage market share. That was due to great marketing and deal making by Microsoft and stupid business decisions by Apple in the 1990s. But there are still a significant number of Mac users, especially in the home, education, and creative markets. For these users, DVC needs to make sure that their site works at least on the MSIE, Netscape, and Safari browsers under Mac OS X.

As a couple of others on here have noted, apparently the problem is not just with Apple browsers, but with any browser other than IE. At home I use the Firefox browser on my Windows XP system, and I'm also having problems with the DVC site.

Using navigator with XP I can only get the header with no text. It has been like this for over a week.

Everyone,

DVC has replied with the following:

Hello Bruce,

Thank you for your email regarding the DISNEY VACATION CLUB Member web site.

Like you, several Members have reported recent challenges is accessing content on the Member web site, many of them using the Mac OS. Our technical team is currently investigating the cause of this arrested function and has made affecting a resolution a top priority.

While your frustration is understandable, this lapse is neither indicative of browser bias nor targeted programming. We hope to return the site to proper operation as soon as possible so that all our Members can enjoy the quality online experience they deserve.

Once again, we appreciate your feedback and we look forward to offering you a hearty Welcome Home
soon.

Robb

Perhaps we should be seeing some results shortly. I think Robb and the gang got caught without performing adequate testing.

Have Fun,
Bruce

That's BS. If you write it to IE, use IE and mostly or only test it on IE; I'd say that is both bias and targeted programming.

I tried the site this morning. I was able to log in, but there were no links to anything.... That's a shame.

I feel their pain. I lead project teams that run a large commercial web-site. If this were my site, I'd have a VP or VP breathing down my neck.
