A recent thread on day-by-day waitlisting made me curious how people generally make out with their waitlist requests. How many of us have ever had to switch resorts (when it wasn't our choice) because a night didn't come through on the waitlist. Also, how many have had to switch multiple times.

You can vote for more than one line!

I ran out of options because of the limit on the number of poll choices. Here are the choices, because I had to do some abbreviating to make it fit...

* I’ve never used the waitlist. I’ve always had good luck getting the reservations I want.

* When I go on the waitlist, I do it as all-or-nothing. I’ve had very good luck getting what I want.

* When I go on the waitlist, I do it as all-or-nothing. It’s been hit or miss at getting what I want.

* When I go on the waitlist, I do it as all-or-nothing. I’ve not had good luck getting what I want.

* When I go on the waitlist, I do it as day-by-day. I’ve had very good luck getting what I want.

* When I go on the waitlist, I do it as day-by-day. It’s been hit or miss. I’ve been forced to switch resorts when a night didn’t come through.

* When I go on the waitlist, I do it as day-by-day. It’s been hit or miss. I’ve been forced to switch resorts multiple times on the same trip because of nights that didn’t come through.

* When I go on the waitlist, I do it as day-by-day. It’s been hit or miss. I’ve paid for cash rooms on the nights that didn’t come through to avoid switching resorts.

* When I go on the waitlist, I do it as day-by-day. It’s been hit or miss. When the waitlist didn't come through, I’ve been able to change the whole reservation to stay at a second choice to avoid switching resorts mid-stay.

* When I go on the waitlist, I do it as day-by-day. I’ve had bad luck getting what I wanted. I’ve been forced to switch resorts when a night didn’t come through.

* When I go on the waitlist, I do it as day-by-day. I’ve had bad luck getting what I wanted. I’ve been forced to pay cash for some nights to avoid having to switch resorts.

* When I go on the waitlist, I do it as day-by-day. I’ve had bad luck getting what I wanted. I’ve been forced to switch resorts multiple times on the same trip because of nights that didn’t come through.

I've done all or nothing twice and the waitlist never came through.

I've done day by day and was not successful up to about 2 months out when I cancelled the entire trip.

The waitlist process has not been kind to me. It is even more disheartening when it appears that Disney does not run it in a fair manner.

A while back there was a poll on things we'd like to see Disney do to improve DVC. My vote was to make a fair waitlist process...and to fix point morphing. Both get to the same point of making reservations a level playing field.

DH or DS and I make a 1st choice, 2nd choice, 3rd choice list. Then I call. We have gotten our first choice all but twice, and then we took our second choice. It never really matters to us where we stay. We have preferences based on time of year and if we are traveling with someone, but if we don't get our first choice, we don't really care too much.:)

Would have liked VWL for Nov. 29 through Dec. 5, but need three studios and just didn't want to have to wait or worry. Took SSR and can't wait to get there with Grandma and Papa for their first visit in over 30 years.

These numbers are interesting. I thought there'd have been more people using the day-by-day waitlist option.

Haven't had a chance to use the waitlist yet since I'm still killing off double developer points and you can't waitlist with those :)

I've usually booked where I want to stay in the home priority period, and have only switched 3 days max. So, I don't use the waitlist very often. I'm someone who lost a ressie, when MS was switching, and the Friday before the Monday stay, I was called and offered what I had been lost. I don't think it was because of the waitlist, I think it was because of the mixup.

Most of my waitists have been for a day or two at the BCV before a longer stay someplace else, and all of those have come through for us. We've bought points at BCV, because I didn't want the time to come when I couldn't get a few days at BCV.:goodvibes

I have done the all or nothing waitlist twice and both times it came through. I think the auto waitlist seems fair- if it really works the way they say.

So far I am really happy with the availability of DVC resorts.
