Okay....I know we have been around this discussion several times .....but I was wondering if anyone had any thought on this discussion!

The Florida Resident Annual Passport has a special running until 12/31/01 that adds an extra 100 days to their passport in celebration of the 100 years of magic.

If they can do that for Florida Residents...why not for DVC owners that spend a good amount at Disney several times a year.... I hardly think the current passport offer they have for DVC members is anything that many DVC'ers go for. I understand that under the current circumstances that Disney is trying to get the support of those in their ownback yard......however how about adding the perk to some of their best customers who are very loyal.

Just curious what other DVCers think about this.

I haven't seen anything about that 100 days added to Fla passes. Where is the announcement? Does it apply to seasonal passes?

I have been a long time, ardent supporter of a substantial DVC discount. Forget that we were promised it, it would just make sense for Disney. DVC members are at least or above average in the income range of fuests, they have already shown a loyality to Disney, they generally spend money when on property. They are also wise and cost conscious, that is why they bought into DVC in the first place. More and more days are being spent off property now that the free passes have ended. I certainly see a minority of my days on property soon.

Isn't that just plain dumb?

They had us with the golden handcuffs. We spent thousands each and every trip, each and every dollar spent on WDW property. This is no longer the case. While we have Florida Resident Seasonal passes, our guests don't. My two sets of guests for December's two week vacation figure that they have old passes with enough time to spend 4-5 days total out of 12 in WDW. We will get the Orlando pass, whatever its called now, we will go to the other attractions the rest of those days. We will eat many, many meals off property. We will probably make it a point to make any large purchases off property just on principle.

I had just read about the pass over on Mary W's website... I was just told about it from a friend who is a CM. The only thing I am sure is that it is for new passes only.

I read an industry news release about the new Florida resident passes and it is just as disneyma describes.

Bottom line: people have stopped flying to an alarming degree. Orlando hotels are nearly deserted (see Webmaster Pete's incredible hotel rates!) and Disney parks are no where near capacity.

Giving DVC members a discount would get us in the parks a little more, but the local population can really help them out in a big way. It's strictly a numbers game.

On the other hand, it would be nice for Disney to offer us a little scrap or two. DVC members are some of the most dedicated vacationers at WDW. Yes, we will come with or without the park admission discount. But at some point it would be nice of Disney to get past the "we've got your money so the heck with you" attitude.

I know, I know....Disney doesn't owe us anything like a discount. It's not in our contract. And I'm not going to sell if they don't give us a discount.

It's just that the steady stream of DVC members provides a guaranteed income stream and park admissions for forty more years. There will be up times and down for Disney. Right now they are down, and a little carrot to us would go a long way towards preserving their reputation as a first class company.

I read today that Anheuser-Busch is letting all policemen and firemen into the Sea Worlds and Busch Gardens parks free for the rest of the year. At least that shouldn't alienate their core repeat business so much!

i agree with Rich. we need the golden handcuffs again or something similar. would be nice, but i'm not holding my breath.

I, too would like to have a DVC annual pass, similar to the Florida Resident pass.
DH and I have decided to keep our reservations at BWV for the Food and Wine show in November. I really hate to spend $$$ for passes when we are going into EPCOT to spend money on food!
At least let us buy a "Dine around" pass of some sort.
Imagine, going out to dinner and having to spend about $50 more
just to enter the restaurant!
