We are going to WDW for 10 nights in Oct, using our points and staying at BLT in a one bedroom lake view the entire time. I dont know if its worth it to buy DVC travel in, buy my own elsewhere, or not buy it at all??

In the past, we normally dont buy it for trips to just WDW, we usually only buy it when we go on the DCL, but this trip will not have a cruise with it.

I called DVC, and they said it would be $178 for the ins since we are using points from 2 use years.

I went online to Allianz where we normally buy it for our cruises and i just dont know what amount to put in for coverage?? We didnt really pay for the rooms since its on points and im sure we would eventually get there, so i hate to put in a high dollar amount for the point value. On the airfare, we had $400 in travel vouchers we got from Delta on the last trip, so we only paid about $350 out of pocket for airfare for 3 of us, and by the way, there are 3 of us, 2 adults, and our daughter who will have just turned 18 on this trip.

We are buying annual passes and have the exchange cards already, then its just food which we are paying cash for, no dining plan this time, we are going to get the tables in wonderland card and see how we do with that this trip. I think i would possibly like to have it for any travel delay or illness or injury while there just in case. If i put in a value for 3 of us of $2000, they want about $158 for the ins, if i drop to $1500 value, it goes to only $100 for the ins.

What is the best way to go with either of these ins or to just go with no travel ins since we are on land the entire time? or what amount should we put in when checking for prices?

any suggestions?

In our 25 trips to WDW, plus other trips other places, we've never purchased travel insurance. USUALLY we have had good luck with our travel plans. On the rare occasion we've had "an issue" we've never lost money on the deals. Once JetBlue destroyed half the zipper on our new suitcase, to the point that an unknown baggage handler taped the case closed. I just reported it to JB and they sent us a check for $125 to cover the cost of a new suitcase. A couple of times we've been bumped off the last flight of the day, but it's been no problem with either car rental agencies or hotels; we called when we knew we wouldn't make it that day, then just showed them the original receipts and the re-issued boarding passes and they adjusted things accordingly so there was no upcharge or loss of rate. I am not sure why you'd purchase travel insurance... but having said that, we don't travel with electronics or cell phones; my tracfone is the most expensive thing I'd take, or DD's laptop, but she travels with that in her carry-on.
