I always travel without my husband, we are self employed and can't both get away at the same time. Besides he hates to travel so my DS and I go without him. I am considering DVC but know that other timeshare companies will not allow one spouse to tour without the other. Does DVC have same policy. I have stopped at info booths to ask questions but they don't give me the time of day. Being alone and in my late 20's most of the reps assume I can't afford DVC and don't bother wasting their time on me. Anyone had this experience or know if their is a rule that states both spouses must be present.

I know from first-hand experience. DH didn't go to WDW with me in January, I was solo, but he asked me to take the tour and report back to him for buying into VWL (he'd stayed at WL one trip and loved it). No problem, making ressies for the tour, then I brought everything home and DH strongly approved and we bought over the phone. So for him it was sight unseen. Only thing is, now he teases me that the pressure's really on for him to like it when we take our first trip "home" in June because, he now says, I talked him into it. The reality is that he was ready to buy and really didn't want to "bother" with the tour-he talked me into it! So there was no problem at all-if there is, remind them that it's worked to their advantage before!

I noticed that when my mom and I visited Atlantic City and Las Vegas that the timeshare people on the Boardwalk or Strip always approached couples and never approached us. I laughed to myself, if they only knew I owned DVC, they assume I couldn't afford a timeshare. Also, I noticed they sometimes asked the couples if they were married, I was thinking if they weren't it may be putting them in an ackward position (like if one of them wanted to be married and the other didn't).

Tracey,
I work for DVC at one of those info booths. We do allow guests to tour alone. We usually require a name, address & phone for all interested parties. We don't do credit checks as I believe some timeshares do. And because you're from the ONLY province in Canada that allows us to sell to you once you're home, you can take all the info with you. The salesguides are fine with one being there. So don't worry. Currently it's $75 per point. There's an increase coming up in June to $80 per point. Hopefully, you're coming in before June to take advantage of the cheaper rate. If you have any other questions or if I could help in setting up a tour or get info to you, just let me know.

Thanks for the quick reponse. I actually get that DebbieB, because so often I'm alone with my son people make assumptions about who I am. Usually they are way off base. Glad to hear you took the tour yourself Simbasmom. My husband will be a much harder sell as he has never been to WDW and thinks I'm nuts.
