DVC Tickets -- Longer than length of stay?

I am planning for a May trip. If my daughter and her boyfriend comes with us we will have to scrap our studio and book a 1BR for a shorter period, probably 5 weeknights (6 days) to stay within our points. From what I read we could buy DVC tickets for 6 days (4 days + 2) but we would still want to hit the parks for a couple more days if possible. We would probably stay offsite for those extra days. Can I buy DVC tickets for longer than our length of stay, say 7 or 8 days instead of 6, and still get the discount?

I have read that this is not an issue as long as the start day matches your reservation.

Since your offsite stay is later, you should be able to add as many days as allowed under the 2 free!

Query on the 4 days + 2 tickets, since OP mentions daughter and "boy friend." What are the limitations on the "for whom" you can get the 4 days plus 2 tickets. Is to limited to those living in the same residence as the member or can you buy for anyone in your party or same room at WDW?

As to how long the tickets can last, I have-not bought the 4+2 through DVC yet, but if you get a 6 day ticket from Disney, it can be used during any nine (or ten, cannot remember exactly which)days beginning with your arrival date, regardless of whether you continue to stay on site. I assume that will also apply to the 4+2 tickets.

Thank you! I'm hoping to add a couple of days in a 2BR over at WBC. We stayed there for a week in 2019 and really enjoyed it.

It's my understanding that I can buy anyone the DVC tickets as long as they are on my reservation. Worse comes to worse, I'll buy his from a another place that sells discounted tickets.

Nope! Just guests with you for the trip. I have read that the member has to be traveling but also read that people have gotten them for family even when they are not.

But, definitely can be for friends as I almost got for my July trip for my one friend traveling

Good to know as I was assuming they were more limited to family or same residence as the member and I will soon be getting some of the 4+2's for a trip (first since months before covid, since I am now "vaccined") that will include a couple of non-family members that will be staying in same room with us, and thought we might need to do regular tickets for them.

I just bought 8 days for the price of 6 last week by calling DVC. We didn’t start them until the day after we arrive since it will be late evening when we get there and parks will be closed by then if the hours stay the same. I don’t think the start day matters but it didn’t sound like to me it mattered when they ended either.

Also as others said the prices were slightly lower then the ticketing prices I was quoting myself on the website.

Thanks for sharing. I had read the start date had to match but maybe it was the person wanted to start before the reservation not after?

But, good to have first hand info!

When we bought, we were told the tickets could start anytime after checkin, but not before. Then we upgraded to APs once the recovery offer worked out, but that's another story.
