First time staying at a DVC resort and wondering if you could call housekeeping for additional cleaning supplies ( dish detergent, laundry detergent, etc.) and do they supply paper products? Thanks for any help on this subject.

Yes, they will provide additional dish soap and dishwasher detergent upon request. Laundry detergent replacement is at housekeeping discretion (I prefer to bring my own anyway) but I have never read of anyone being denied additional bottles. Paper towels and toilet paper are in the room and you should be able to get more if you need it.

If you leave the room occupied sign on the door, mousekeeping might not enter, or they might just grab the trash and not check anything else like toilet paper etc. we ran into this issue last trip. I remember on previous trip them having no issues knocking and coming right in for their trash removal (safety checks). One time at VGF, I had just gotten out of the shower and I answered the door and told them we had no trash, they insisted they had to enter (we were already there for 3 days). They said that if they do not come in the manager will see that they were not in the room. We let them in and there was no trash to take. About 30 minutes later the mousekeeping manager knocks on the door wanting to know what’s going on. I explained, we had no trash, but let them in anyways. We liked DVC better prior to daily trash (safety check) service.
