DVC Split Stay and the Meal Plan

What is the minimum number of nights do DVC members have to book on points in order to take advantage of any of the dining plans? As I understand the program I could book a one day stay and use the plan over two days. I am staying for consecutive weeks but my first night is booked at another resort than the balance of the stay. I was thinking why not book the Quick Service plan and get two quick service meals, 2 snacks and a refillable mug for $34.99 not bad since we would be purchasing the mug anyway. We would redeem the voucher for the mug on our second day after checking in at the location for the remaining stay, thus staying within the rules on refillable mugs.

You can only use the meal plan for 1 day. I think it is 24 hours from when you check in to use your credits. You won't get credits for 2 days if you have paid for one day. You would get 1 meal and one snack not 2.

DVC Grandpa is right. For example, if he checks in at one resort on Thursday morning, he has 2 CS and 2 snack credits to use by Friday midnight. We had the QSDP in July and we were told at check out that we had until midnight to use up our credits. The DP is done by nights not by day. We had 4 nights of QSDP. We checked in Sunday morning and checked out Thursday morning. So for 5 days we had between the two of us 16 CS, 16 snack credits and 2 refillable mugs. Doesn't matter what combination you use the meals and credits each day.

DVC Grandpa, after this last trip, we thought about staying 2 nights with QSDP at a value or mod on the weekend nights then moving to our DVC on Sunday and getting our mugs there. Some of the CS meals are big enough to feed 2 people.

Say you check in on September 11 and check out September 12. You are on the quick service plan. You will receive 2 meal credits and 2 snack credits that will expire after midnight AFTER you check out on September 12. You can use these credits up to that time, anytime after you have checked in on September 11. So depending on how early you check in, you could have two full days to use those credits.
