I've heard on several threads that the DVC sales center might eventually move out of SSR. Can anyone confirm this? Certainly having the sales center there limits what can be done with the resort in that area, and also increases traffic....

Just curious.

Once SSR is soldout, there's no reason to keep it there. It will probably move to Animal Kingdom Villas.

I'm sorry Debbie, but I disagree. They have a really nice setup over at SSR, which they still consider to be their flagship resort. I assume it was quite an improvement over their spot at Boadwalk. I'm just not sure they'll vacate their current location just because they're selling somewhere else, but I suppose it's possible, it would just surprise me if they did.

Seems like the sales center stayed at the BoardWalk long after that resort sold-out. They built models for VWL and BCV and sold out of that location. They even built models of the SSR rooms before the sales center was complete at SSR.

Talked to our guide about this very question this past January...he told us the sales center is not moving from SSR, and that Disney is building a "virtual" AKV in the Theatre building...complete w/"virtual views" of the savannas/savannahs (did we ever resolve the debate about how to spell that word???)...

The "virtual center" sounds really awesome...we told Tim (our guide) that altho our add-on would be at SSR (I absolutely love SSR), he "had to" take us on an AKV sales tour at the virtual sales center at the theatre...he promised he would, but said he didn't know when it would open (this was early January...maybe 1/7?)...

Of course, all Disney plans are subject to change...but that's what our guide told us just about one month ago...

Virtual tours? Hmmm, that sounds cool.

FWIW, I asked our guide last December about this. He indicated pretty much the same thing. Disney invested a helluva lot in the Preview Center. Too much to just move it willy nilly somewhere else.

And if you think about it practically, the location is perfect for sales. DTD is a big draw for onsite and offsite guests. You have all those non-Disney hotels nearby. It has enough space to handle the traffic. All these reasons translate to better, more comfortable sales.

Only downside is it means we may be losing our Community Theater to sales tours. I'd hate that long term.

There will likely be a satellite office in the new building....probably in ANY new DVC building...but I think the main office will stay where it is.

This is no loss since the theater is not part of SSR. It's run by the DVC sales office and the only thing that's been there has been the once a week members meeting. Which is really about trying to get members to do add ons.
