DVC sales literature-no income requirement?

I just noticed that DVC sales literature doesn't list an income requirement. For example, several Marriot ones that I have info on says $75K min income requirement. Isn't that discrimination? Someone could make much less than $75k and have a better handle on their bills then someone who makes more. I wonder why Disney doesn't advertise a min income.

I think it's because Disney will pretty much finance anyone. Some people may be required to put a much larger down payment toward their purchase but in the end, they will be accepted. If the new owner defaults, Disney keeps the down payment and gets to sell the points over again.

Only guessing here, but I don't see the need for a minimum income requirement.

- If you pay cash, all the better.

- If you default on a Disney Mortgage or annual dues, DVC can cancel your reservation, rent the room to recoup the dollars, and foreclose if needed.

It just seems to be win-win for Disney (that's a good thing in my opinion). :drinking:

I was invited to take a three night trip to the Orlando Marriott as a perspective buyer but as I conveyed to the solicitor that I was retired, and had no job, he withdrew the offer. Since then I have accumulated 700 points in the Disney Vacation Club. Discrimination, I thought it was, but I am much more happy with the results.

I think that may be the reason for the minimum income requirement. I guess in their minds they think people with income less than that will be less likely to be able to buy in and will just take advantage of the free trip.

I think back to a trip to Atlantic City about 4 or 5 years ago. They had people on the Boardwalk approaching people with timeshare flyers, asking them to stop in and take a tour. I noticed they mostly approached couples. They did not hand me the flyer. I thought little did they know I own DVC! They just assumed that could not afford their timeshare.

Another common requirement is to be married; I see that a lot in Las Vegas. As to the income requirement, I've never heard of one in the years I've been on this board.

You are correct that everyone but DVC requires both parties to be present. When I signed up for the tour in 1997 I went by myself, DW hates to go on these, and they had no problem with this. I took the info back and we talked it over and bought. When I stay at our other timeshares and they want me to come to their "refresher" meeting (known as buy more points) they take back the offer when they find out my DW is not with me on the trip.
