My father in law got the family a room at OKW. I want to add park tickets but I want to pay for them. Can I add them now so we can do fast passes and pay for them upon check in?

You have to pay for tickets right away. Rather than buy from Disney direct for years we've bought from one of their authorized discount brokers - Undercover Tourist. You can either have the tickets sent to you or get the e-ticket. Either can be linked to MDE.

And if you go to Mousesavers.com and sign up for their monthly newletter that has a link it in for a little more savings.

Otherwise, DVC members have a special 25th anniversary ticket available to them but it sounds like your FIL is the owner?

You should be able to buy tickets and add them onto MDE, link them to you and your dad and then choose your FP

FIL is the owner. I want to pay for our own tickets. Just wasn't sure if I could add and then pay when we arrived. I seem to remember doing that with the dining plan one year.

The dining plan used to be that way but now it's pay when you add. Tickets have been immediate payment for as long as I recall.

FYI - in case you weren't aware Disney just raised ticket prices on Feb 28th. When that happens the authorized brokers usually have tickets available for a little while. I think that Undercover tourist ended their old prices yesterday but I see that Maple Leaf Tickets still has their old pricing for 2 more days. For example, for a 5 day park hopper that's a savings of $57 and change vs buying direct.

Tickets are completely separate from the room. You can't pay when you get there. I'm afraid you're mis-remembering about your past experience. For Disney "packages," you have to pay in full 30 days prior (use to be 45 days). But DVC reservations are not packages. They're just the room, and everything else is a-la-carte and paid when you order it.

They said they remembered paying for the dining plan upon arrival which was allowed up until maybe 2011 or 2012? I don't remember the exact year but it wasn't all that long ago.

Yeah, the thing to remember about DVC is that the concept of 'package' doesn't exist. Everything is room-only. Any packages, deals, etc that are offered with cash reservations are not available on points bookings. Completely different system.

Now, just to make it confusing, you can add the dining plan to a DVC reservation, and you can purchase tickets from Disney, but that still doesn't make it a package. The dining plan must be paid for at the time you add it, and any ticket purchases must be paid for at the the you make them.
