I have a few questions about some of the resorts. I'm looking at a trip in the near future and DVC might be the way to go for our family (I'll have to rent points this go round).

AKV - What is the difference between standard view and savannah view?

As for the others, what are some of things that make them unique? Which is your favorite and why?

Standard view is of the pool at Jambo, and once Kidani opens, it will be parking lot, pool or garden. Savanna view means a view of the savannas with the animals.

Right now the only villas available at AKV are the ones in Jambo House. The relative number of units is small until the villas at the newly constructed Kidani Village open sometime in 2009. Standard view in Jambo are pool views, in Kidani it will be pool or parking lot views. Savanna view villas in both places will have balconies that face one of several savannas. Depending on when you want to travel, getting a reservation at AKV might be difficult. If you want to do it before then end of 2008, you may be out of luck.

The other DVC resorts are all great for various reasons. BWV and BCV are both close to EPCOT and DHS. VWL has a great theme and is close to MK. SSR is beautiful and is right next to DTD. OKW has the largest villas and cost the least amount of points (I haven't stayed at OKW yet but it's a similar in style to SSR -- spread out, relaxing). You can't go wrong with any of them....depends what you're looking for.

Our favourite for spending time at the actual resort is OKW. We always get a 1 or 2 bedroom, and the best features are: large balcony/patio with table and 4 chairs to enjoy the pond/fairway views and feed ducks from; large living area with big dining table that is priceless for our family games of Uno and meals together; actual laundry room, not closet, perfect for keeping the clean and dirty clothes separate and keeping up with some laundry. Also, the kids love the pool here best since it was refurbished, and all the activities available for them (teenage boys), like basketball, tennis, beach volleyball, ping pong, table hockey, pool and so on. Also love the boat to DTD.
We do like the AKL, but would probably enjoy our DVC experience there more when the DVC section of Kidani Village is complete, as right now it's like you're staying in the hotel part.
SSR is our second favourite for it's nice balconies and views, and the quick walk or boat ride to DTD.
VWL is our home resort and always has that 'wow' factor when you walk in, but we're from Canada, so that 'up north' feel doesn't do it for us when we're in Florida, although a trip to the Whispering Canyon Cafe is a must for every trip!
BCV are beautiful, and the whole atmosphere is wonderful, plus the pool area is awesome. We just don't like the bus system because it is shared with three other resorts, and the boats make my daughter's motion sickness kick in when they're packed because they're closed in, which leaves us no options to get to Epcot or HS unless we walk.
BWV are the only ones we've never stayed at - visited the pool once and the kids didn't care for it (DS hates clowns:laughing: ), and they're balconies are small or standing only. Might be okay for just me and DH one trip to be close to shops and dining and walk to Epcot, but for now it's not on the future list of must-stays.
Happy planning!:goodvibes
