Hello DISers,

I am planning a trip to WDW for october 2017 (yeah I now I'm early, but anyways). It's going to be our first family trip to WDW and our DD will be 3 1/2 and our DS will be 1 1/2 years old. I was looking at renting a DVC Studio at either Old Key West (cheaper) or Boardwalk (better location). I would love Bay Tower, but being from Canada, the price difference avec conversion is alot.

Does anyone have any advice between the 2 for a family with young ones?

Thanks in advance.

I would do Boardwalk. Before we owned DVC, we rented points and stayed at Boardwalk. We only had one child at the time, who was 2. It is a great location because you can walk to Epcot and DHS. We found this incredibly convenient especially at night when our daughter was asleep leaving the park. No having to fold up the stroller and hold her on the bus at those parks.

I agree Bay Lake Tower is awesome. We just stayed there in May. It was super nice to be able to walk to Magic Kingdom.

Admittedly, I haven't stayed at OKW. I hear the rooms are large there so that is one benefit. With little kids, I think the less you have to deal with buses and folding strollers, the better.

Honestly, the studios are small and wouldn't recommend one at all. If they are going to SHARE sleeping on the fold-out bed, they might be okay - but when that bed is open- there's very little walking/playing space in those rooms. But if you are going to have one on the fold-out bed and one in a pack n play or crib - those rooms just got tiny. And you are probably going to need space to put a double stroller, too. Really, I think value rooms give you more room to move around, IMO. I LOVE DVC studios for a couple or maybe a group of 3 - but once you hit 4, I think they aren't the place to be. Maybe OKW is larger (I haven't been there).

I'd suggest either finding the money for a one-bedroom - or just consider a deluxe, mod, or value/AoA family suite instead.

Either is fine, but if you plan on spending a lot of time in Epcot, it's really nice to be able to walk in and out of the international gateway. At OKW, there are only like two buildings with elevators. So you'll be carrying that stroller up and down the stairs (unless you request ground floor or a building with an elevator, which isn't guaranteed). Boardwalk is nice because if you put the kids to bed early, one of you can walk down and get dinner or snacks and bring them back to the room, etc. You won't feel as trapped post-bedtime.

Thanks for the responses. We will propbably go with the Boardwalk because of the location. With the kids, we'll be at MK most, but the BWI resort seems more interesting with kids (less spread out).
