DVC Resort/Room options at 7Months for Christmas

Since I have been a DVC member, we have been able to walk an AKV Studio for Christmas. I haven't had any luck this year and it looks like I'm not going to be able to get that entry level DVC studio. I know there is only 8 of them to start with I think, but that is just where I have been. If I'm not in the cheap value studio, I would definitely consider staying at other DVC studio if they were available at 7 months prior for Christmas week.

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with booking studios at any other DVC for Christmas - New Year's? Should I go ahead and hold a Kidani studio just in case?

I would book a standard view at Jambo or Kidani and waitlist the value room. Then check what is available at 7 months.
