Is there a DVC board of governers that members can be part of?

Perhaps a DVC "Owner Advocate"... a voice of the owners?

No- the DVC Board of Directors are all appointed by Disney and are not elected by a vote of the members (although some - or all - of the Directors may also be members).

There is a provision allowing the members at each resort to select their own management company and replace DVC, but that would mean losing access to all DVC programs and the ability to use points at other resorts and is a very unlikely option IMO. All expenses for holding such a vote would be borne by those owners and not by DVC (it would not be paid from the annual fees).

There is no provision or requirement for DVC to include the general membership on the Board and the general membership, while invited to the annual meetings, has no say in any of the proceedings. All votes are made by our "representatives" on the board. Those present at the meeting are merely observers.

However, DVC is pretty recpetive to comments and suggestions from members- so don't hesitate to offer opinions about any aspect of your membership. You never know what may be modified as a result of these membership suggestions.

Enjoy!

thank you... very interesting.

i am closing on my DVC property now, will i recieve information about the DVC Board (contact names, address, etc.)... or is there a URL where this is posted once I receive my Member #?

Appreciate the info

Board members are introduced each year at the annual meetings but, to my knowledge there is no information readily available regarding direct contact of DVC Board members. Contact with DVC by members can be thru MS by telephone and by writing to :

Member Services
Disney Vacation Club
200 Celebration Place
Celebration, FL 34747

or by email at:
members@disneyvacationclub.com

There is also a lot of membership information available at:

www.dvcmember.com

Personally, I'm glad that there aren't any "regular" members on the DVC Board. Having experienced several HOA / Condo associations - and the (not always but quite often) frustrated law enforcement officials and/or politicians and/or dictators who have the time and desire to be on the boards - I'm quite satisfied to leave it up to professionals. Plus, as the recent "Pool Temp" hoo-ha showed, they do listen to us owners.....
