We have DVC reservations for June. We are only planning on going to the parks one day and we were going to wait until we were there to purchase our tickets. Will we be able to plan our fast passes in advance?

If you don't have a ticket linked to each person in your party on your MDE account, you won't be able to make FP+ selections for each. You will have to wait until you have a ticket to link to your account.

There is no real advantage to waiting to purchase a one day ticket so if it means not being able to book FL+, then I would certainly go ahead and buy the ticket now.
While I am not big into advance planning when it comes to my Disney trips, I do always get my resort reservation, park tickets and DME completed well in advance of my arrival. This allows me plenty of time to just worry about what parks to visit and where to eat when I get to "the promised land."
If you are going to purchase a one day ticket, purchase direct from Disney as there are no discounts on one and two day tickets. Resellers like UT actually sell one and two day tickets for more than Disney sells them for.
