Was just reading in a major consumer publication about a Marriott timeshare owner lamenting the problems in selling his Orlando timeshare. "Marriott's resale program representative says it may take two or three years and can't guarantee the price he'll get". The publication states that since newer units sell first, resales are very hard to move. They also mention matching the $1,600 incentive Marriott gives new buyers, as well as a 25 percent commission and $225 in closing costs. Listings on eBay are currently only drawing bids under $1,000!

Having just sold a small contract within two months, I'm happy with my ownership in DVC!

It depends on what you paid and how you try to sell it. Selling through Marriott is a stupid approache for most people. And if they are selling Orlando, that means it's not Horizons or Grande Vista but one of the older ones. It's not possilble to make a blanket statement, everything is relative.
