We just called and had our contract emailed to us to sign and fax in for our BWV timeshare. We went through the Timeshare Store, will be faxing in our contract and overnighting the deposit check tomorrow. I was hoping someone could give me some kind of estimate on how long I should expect it to be between now and when we are able to make reservations. The information from them seems to suggest it could be quite a while (ie 2-3 months), is this generally accurate? I just want to make sure we can get this years points banked before August 1st, and set our reservations for next years trip before the BWV's become available to the other DVC members. Our trip is scheduled for mid-March of next year for 7 nights in a 2 BR. Thanks for any info from those w/ past experience.

The folks at The Timeshare Store are the experts. If they are telling you it'll take 2-3 months, that's how long it will take. Perhaps you can ask the seller to bank the points before the sale goes to Disney.

They are pretty accurate about that timeframe. You should have plenty of time to make your reservations. Besides, in mid-March there will be availability for all 4 months before the other DVC members can make their ressies(unless you will be looking for standard view). Congratulations on getting a contract!

Hmm, so standard view rooms go much more quickly, because that is what we planning on getting. Is it likely I'm not going to be able to get a standard view room 8 or 9 months ahead of time?

We made an offer about Feb 22, accepted and sent to ROFR on Feb 25, passed ROFR on March 10. We used expedited closing, and we expect to close at the end of this week. From that point, we are told to expect 10 days before we are in the system and can make ressies.

So with expedited closing, if all goes as we think it will, from start to finish should be about six weeks. That's shorter than the average, because we had a responsive seller and we used expedited closing.

Prior to this, however, we had an aborted sale which took about two weeks and went nowhere.

I think a lot depends on how fast the ROFR goes. In our case, we're talking about OKW and we bought right about the time DVC was trying to unload OKW points, so I don't think they were going to ROFR anything halfway reasonable. BCV, BWV, and VWL may take longer and may be much more susceptible to ROFR. Or not...who knows?

I'm sure you know if you get ROFR'd, that contract is gone and you go right back to square one.

I believe you need to bank 6 months prior to your use year to get full allotment, if this is the case it may already be to late.

I would get some more advice from seasoned members about the banking issue, but are'nt you already under the 6 month window?

*had the URL here, but was from a competing site, so it was blanked out. The gist of it was that banking takes place during the use year though.

according to this site, you can bank 100% of your points during the first 6 months of your use year, 50% during months 7-9, and 25% in the 10th month of your use year before you are unable to bank them. From this, it appears it is 6 months into your use year that you can still bank them, not 6 months prior to your use year. I sure hope I had this understanding correct

Correct, I thought you were talking about points you already had.

Good Luck
