Does WDW have DVC units available for first week of Feb? Any discounts (AP, AAA, etc) to non-DVC members? Rates? Thanks.

Check out the DVC forum; DVC rent/trade. A lot of DVC members rent their points for approx $9-$10 per point. There is a point calculator at the top of the forum, you can use this to key in dates/resort that you want to see how many points you will need for the dates you wish to stay. From there it is a matter of connecting with a member who has the number of points you need. In some cases there is already an existing reservation that you can assume. Believe me, it is easier than I make it sound! It is also a good value for your money.

Good Luck!

You can book reservations for the DVC resorts through the main Disney reservation center ("CRO") at 1-407-WDISNEY. For non-DVC renters, you're treated pretty much the same as if you were making a reservation at any WDW hotel.

The first week of February is still "value season." (It switches over to Peak after the second week of February, where everything goes up at least $100/night.) Rack rates for the newest of the resorts are about $300/night for a studio, $400 for a one-bedroom, and $550 for a two-bedroom at most of the resorts. Old Key West is slightly cheaper -- basically take about $50 off each night.

As for availability, there's pretty much only way to find out -- you need to give 'em a call or look on the web site. AP and AAA rates have definitely been reported on studios. My guess is that theywill be available for all.

You should know that you're pretty much throwing away money if you rent a DVC room through disney. DVC owners who cannot use their points in a given year will offer them for rent at rates lower than you can get through disney. Renting requires some trust on both sides, so you should learn up on it and make sure you're comfortable with it.

If you try and book a DVC room now through Disney for February, there will only a few rroms available. At the 90 day mark, any rooms that haven't been rented by DVC will be turned over to CRO for regular rentals.

And yes, it will be cheaper to rent points from a DVC member FOR THE WEEKDAYS. The weekends are usually cheaper to rent through Disney.

When renting through disney, the rate doesn't change from day to day. The DVC points however are sometimes 3 times more on Friday and Saturday than the other days.

I got a Beach Club Villa Studio with the AP rate in early Feb. It was $204 + tax.

Yes, I probably should have clarified what I said to make it clear that I was mostly talking about studios. With enough leg work and preplanning, you will virtually always be able to beat the price through WDW by renting points for a DVC member for studios, even on the weekends and even if you get a discount. But once you start looking at one and two bedrooms, weekend nights do take alot of points and you may be able to beat the price through WDW.
