DVC Rental Store is $24/Point for my stay, and Davids is $20/Point. Which one should I choose?

Dumb question..... If a Poly owner had let's say, 175 points. Why would they want to rent me 125 points? Doesn't that leave them with a small amount of points they will have difficulty using/renting?
Each owner has different reasons for renting points, they may or may not want to rent out 125 points on a 175 point contract. Also, some one else might want only to rent 30-50 points, I get a lot of weekend rentals when I rent my points in the 30-50 range.

I will add that sometimes owners are okay with renting a range of the points offered. When I did last year, I had a minimum and maximum I was hoping to rent and so many will have flexibility.

Always book direct on this forum or another with a member would never do it another way if renting imo.

The points calendar said my desired resort(PVB) and dates would be 125 points. I thought of renting points on the boards, but wasn't sure if it was possible to rent exact number of points from owner or if I could book this far out (11ish months). So basically, I'm not very informed yet...and need to do more research. Thanks for replies.

FYI - the 2 places you mentioned are simply brokers. They go out to owners, just exactly like the ones renting here - to find someone to reserve that reservation with their points and rent it to you. Then they keep a fee for having done that connecting of a renter and an owner.

Different owners will have different requirements for renting but an owner can both bank and borrow points. The majority of DVC is a points system and it's probably pretty rare that an owner uses exactly the number of points they own every year. What you're asking for is the norm and not unusual at all.

The owner doesn't actually rent you the points. The owner makes the reservation (and controls it until you check in), and you pay the owner a fee based on the number of points the reservation cost. You don't have control of the points themselves; "renting points" is a misnomer for "renting a reservation."

Wow website brokers charge ALOT!

I am surprised some (maybe all?) of them have gotten so aggressive with pricing. I have read in a different thread that current discounts booking direct with Disney are not that much better/more than pre-COVID. Perhaps Disney has been able to keep its prices up by reducing available room inventory more aggressively. But, with what happened at one of the more prominent brokers, I really think people should stay away from them (not just the one much discussed here in a different thread) unless the discount is big enough to warrant the risk. I think it has become apparent that these brokers don't necessarily offer more protection than renting directly from owners through legitimate ways.

What Chuck said..... I am in process of renting about 200 points and no one is likely to need that exact number, so I will have to do multiple deals to get that number rented. It comes with the territory.

The exception to this can be transferring points between members, but that is another story.

I think you can work with some owner on the rent/trade forum to rent and save money. Some owner will work with you if there is a problem That sais if you want 100% money back, a cash stayt is the way to go.
