Congratulations on your purchase and Welcome Home ! Another Californian DVCer, yay ! Was your final purchase Dec UY so you got all your 2006 points and the $15 off per point?
I'm curious, were you actually offered the choice of extra points, or is that based on other deals offered earlier on? I am curious because we were told no (new) contracts were avail with extra points, as the contracts are for new buildings AND Disney had a shortage of "extra" points. There were some contracts avail for UYs other than the "new" Dec 06 and Feb 07 that *might* have had points (I didn't pursue this, as we purchased a loaded contract resale).
I had done the tour in September 2005, and I was offered extra points or a reduced point rate. I do not know if there was a friends and family promo then. My guide did not tell me about that, and I did not have a referral name either. I backed out of the contract within the 10 day grace period due to cold feet.
A year later, my guide then left a message on my machine if I was interested in DVC. I found out from these boards about this current Friends and Family discount as well as the other options people were offered over the past two months or so. So, I felt that the Friends and Family discount was the way to go, and I called the guide. We did not even discuss the other options. But from what has been posted on these boards over the past two months, people have been presented three options.
Everything can be subject to change. Maybe Disney is no longer offering the one-time extra bonus points. For example, we really do not know how long this friends and family promo will last. Maybe someone else who bought recently or went on the tour recently can tell you if they were offered the one-time bonus points option. It might be a good new thread topic.
That's likely in this phase but not in SSR for that use year overall. Actually the cheapest option would be to get Dec use year with 2005 points though likely too late now. The next best would be Feb with 2005 points.
