Hi Everyone!!!!

Another questions.

My 9 yr old son's only concern about what DVC we buy into at WDW is that they have to have a good pool slide.

So my question to you is - whichDVC resort has the best pool slide.

He's our only child - age 9 - and although we do go to TL it's always nice to go to the pool for a break and have a drink and relax by the pool whlie he swims.

I've heard great things about SAB but have never seen pics of the slide - Joey says its gotta have a slide.

Eventhough I'm a Californian and would have to make a trip to WDW to buy into BCV - oh what a shame - I think it's location makes sense for us.

So if you can tell us about the pools & slides at OKW, VWL & BCV I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks again.

Definitely, without hesitation . . . Storm Along Bay at the Beach Club Villas!! The first time we stayed at the Yacht Club was 1992 when my son was 6 and he LOVED it!! When we purchased BCV this year he was so excited about that this was our home resort! Good luck with your decision. Annmarie

No doubt about it .......SAB at the BCV's.

SAB has an awesome pool, but my kids think the slide is equal with Boardwalk. WL is third, and OKW has no slide at all.

glewis1123 .... I know you didn't ask, but...........

I really couldn't let this go without comment:

You will see posted often on these boards that the best advice is to buy where you want to stay the most. I'll add to that, buy where you want to stay the most for the next 40 years.

Your son won't be 9 years old for long...and a slide won't be his biggest concern for the long haul. Hopefully, if you choose BCV, it is because it is where you would most like to stay the most over the next 40 years.

If you love BCV the most.....then I say go for it. But if you prefer, say, BWV...then I wouldn't buy BCV just for SAB.

Just my two cents...unsolicited....hope you don't mind!:)

Hi Granny

Don't mind your input at all - I appreciate all viewpoints.

While I like the idea of all the different restaurant options of the BWV and BCV - My dh like VWL for its themeing but there are not many restaurant choices - but they also don't have much of a slide area for my son - which is important to me as well. Just trying to make everyone happy.

However, I am willing to buy anywhere that will make them happy just so long as we buy DVC.

Also, the fact that I'm in California makes it easier to buy resale - and if I want to buy BCV - I'd have to make a trip to WDW - (oh what a shame - lol)

Decisions Decisions

Glenda, it looks like you have the deciding vote. Perhaps a base contract at BCV and an additional # of points at VWL? Everyone should be happy that way! We own both BWV and VWL and love each for different reasons.

Though the slide may not always be the main concern for your ds...in a few years being able to get to things on his own may be his priority. And for your peace of mind you might want him to have things to do closer to your DVC accomodations rather than farther away...which gives BCV or BWV and advantage in the future as well. But you also want to consider where you and dh will want to stay once ds is out of the picture for your regular vacations (it will happen one day...something I have to remind myself of during the everyday chaos of having a 2yo and 7yo....knowing that someday I'll look back on this time fondly!) As for my dh and myself....we like having both options..the quiet retreat of WL and the action and convenience of the BW.

Just wanted to throw that out there...really no need to chose just one!

You know you don't have to make a trip to WDW to buy BCV. It can all be done by phone/mail.

Being that I live in California - if I want to buy directly from DVC for BCV (haven't seen any resales on this resort) I have to do so in person due to some California law. Evidently DVC has not gotten all their paperwork in or California hasn't processed their request to sell these timeshares in California yet.

I can buy resales over phone/fax - just not direct from DVC.

Another thought would be to by at VWL (since your husband likes the theming and you can go resale), BWV or OKW. Then stay your weekends at a regular hotel room at the Y&B club.

Lots of DVC members will fly in on Saturday and pay cash for their first night at another resort (gives you a chance to stay lots of places) before moving "home" on Sunday. Disney will move your luggage for you easily, you save those expensive weekend points.

When our kids get to pool slide age, we are planning to do this for a few trips - fly in Saturday lunchtime, check in at the Yacht Club, spend the day at SAB. Next morning, have Disney bring our bags over to BWVs. Take a midweek day at BB or TL. Given the fact that "pool slide age" won't last forever, for us this makes more sense than an add on at BCVs.

My DD 11 loves the pool areas too. She will only go down the slide a couple of times, so that isn't the most important thing. She found the BWV pool "boring", because besides the slide, there isn't much going on. Not so at SAB. She could spend hours just playing in the sinking sand, or the "riptide" area, or the lazy river. As an only, she seems to have an easier time finding other kids to play with at SAB. We enjoy it too. And I'm looking forward to our first trip to BCV for the Food & Wine Festival, which will probably be when our DD goes to college. It will be great being in Epcot's "back yard"! Diana

I was very impressed with the slide at SAB and I had high expectations. You climb high atop a ship, then you quickly go down a straight enclosed tube; the second half of the slide is not enclosed and you twist and turn, go under a waterfall or two, and then get dumped in a shallow sandy bottom pool that feels so soft!

I am not exaggerating when I say I like this slide as much as any at the water parks. What I like best about it is that it is a combination slide: the first part is very fast and the second part is very scenic. Together, the ride seems to last longer than those slides that are just straight, which seem to be over with in a couple of seconds. Besides how many slides make you feel like you've just been dumped in the Caribbean?

I don't want to set your expectations too high, so just forget everything I said and trust me, your son will like this slide and so will you!

Glenda...

Thanks for taking my "two cents" in the spirit it is intended.

Now that I've read your other comments....I'd say that getting into DVC anywhere is going to be great for you!!!;)

Personally, we like the VWL theming, but also had a great time at BWV this summer. We haven't stayed at OKW yet but know we would love that as well.

You really can't go wrong with any of the WDW DVC choices if you want to go to WDW regularly.

Decisions, decisions!!!:)
