DVC Points Tracker Caskbill

I just signed up for Caskbill point tracker and started to input my information however I found that some information I put in was incorrect. Does anyone know if I can clear all entries and start from scratch?

I believe if you click on "Other Tasks" at the top of the Tracker window you'll get a pop up screen where in the bottom right corner are options to "Undo" transactions in the Tracker.

I think what you'll need will be in there.

If you really want to erase everything and start totally 'clean', you can do it using DVC-Tracker version 2.00 which was just released.

Step 1: Go to Windows' control panel, and add/remove programs, and remove DVC-Tracker

Step 2. Go to Caskbill.com and download and install version 2.00

Run the program. Your old database information will still be there. Go to Other Tasks, Database Registrations. At the very bottom you'll see a line about unregistering the program. You need to click on the information button before the actual button is available to remove your registration.

Be sure you understand this clears everything and any old database will no longer work with the program.

After you unregister, just run the program again. It'll take you to the initial screen where you can set up a new data file.

Yes, V2.00 works with Vista. Make sure you have UAC (User Account Control) turned ON. This both protects your PC, and allows the program to run.

Great to see an update!

However, I do have a couple of questions -- perhaps I missed it on the download page, but is there a list of changes/updates for version 2.00? Presumably the banking deadlines in V2.00 are now in line with what DVC is doing, but are the new booking rules reflected in the program (come to think of it, I'm not sure that the old booking rules were reflected either!). I would surmise that there had to have been some substantial changes, or we would have jumped to V1.85 rather than all the way to V2.00!

Also, the directions mention updating from < 1.80, but what if I already have 1.80? Do I still have to uninstall 1.80 before installing 2.00?

I removed version 1.8 prior to installing 2.0. I think that removing the old program is standard for his programs. Your data will not be removed when you remove the program.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, I didn't think the booking windows were in the Tracker program, but since I'm at work (and Tracker is on my home pc) I couldn't open the program to see. And it wouldn't really make a lot of sense, since this program is for tracking your DVC usage, not for DVC planning.

Just to clarify, I'm not going to put in booking window changes in any of the programs until DVC actually publishes something that explains it all. I'm guessing there may still be further changes coming, especially with all the complaints, not only about the changes, but the fact they came totally unannounced.

There were a number of changes between 1.80 and 2.00 but some clarification is needed. There is both an operating program (DVC-Tracker) AND an associated database (DVCTrackPoints). Up until now, changes made to the program have required changes to the database also. With this update, no changes are required for the database, so the Program is V2.00, but still uses database 1.80

The largest change is how to register a secondary computer, and how to move the database between two computers. It's now done almost automatically, using a USB flash card (memory card) to move information back and forth. There is no more writing down codes and typing them into another computer, or having to use Windows Explore to locate files and copy them.

The reports screen now has the capability to Print the report to your printer.

The manage registrations screen has more information, including the capability to completely remove all registrations.

There is also a feature to have the program check caskbill.com to see if your version of the program is current or if there are newer versions.

There was an issue with program V1.80 where under some unique condition the automatic backup might not work. V2.00 fixes that.

Other changes probably not noticed are more error checking features. If you don't get any errors, then that really wouldn't affect you anyway.

There are other minor changes involving formats and slight changes to some screens and help files. I don't think most users will really notice much difference between the two versions.

There are also some internal changes to make the program more in tune with Vista requirements.

I gotta tell you, I love this program! A weight was lifted off of my shoulders when I downloaded the Tracker. It makes organizing, planning, and tracking points a whole lot easier!
