DVC Points Rental getting too high?

yeah I am aware of what is paid by the resale shops and have tried to price slightly above depending on the market.

I think most of us do. Which is why it’ll move up. If the resellers are paying $16. We’ll tend to split the difference and price it at $18.

I was thinking about banking my points this year and just doing a rental for the vacation and was browsing several sites to see about pricing. Is it just me, or are there some sites charging upwards of $27.00 per point with very little transparency? I was actually shocked.
Curious who is charging $27/point?
The sites I see are $20 and under.

I rented out a reservation for $25 a point on FB and it sold within a day. The cost of the reservation was less than 50% of the best price for a similar view room at the non-DVC side of the resort. It was a win-win for me and my renter.

Considering that the cash option would cost you approx $42 a point at bay lake tower, I would say that is a bargain.

Quite a few years ago I had to let go of NYE BW view studio. Sad day. Rentals were going for about $9/point at the time. I looked at what WDW was charging for a BWV room (no BW view in their BWV inventory), pretty well knocked off a couple of thousand and landed at a figure. It ended up to be around $20-$21/point.

Well you would have thought I had killed someone.:drinking1(Comments on another site.)

It got rented. And the renters were happy to get the room as BW sold out while I was posting. And that is the resort they wanted.

Who cares what someone is asking? If someone wants it, they want it.

I think people who are renting really underestimate their risk of ruin. No way to cancel with most rentals and I have yet to see a credible report of trip insurance actually covering a claim for having to cancel a reservation where you rented somebody else's points. I know lots of people buy trip insurance for this, but I am skeptical that trip insurance would actually pay out.

Considering all the rentals going on over the past decade the "risk of ruin" has been practically 'nil. It can happen but I'd estimate that 99.9999999999999999999999% go off with no issues. And those 9's should probably go out a lot further.

Honestly it all is a comparison to Disney prices. You must want to stay onsite and recently the availability thru Disney has been pretty tight. I also thought I saw where they even were not allow single night reservations to guests so if that's what you wanted you were renting. Supply/demand/Disney pricing. If that $27/pt means it's more than the price to go thru Disney then yes, it's too much. If it means it's still 1/2 or even 3/4 the price to "rent" thru Disney then one just needs to let go the thought of any particular price per point being too high without comparing. It's all getting more and more expensive to go to Disney.
