We have a tournment this fall at the Wide World of Sports Complex and it is "Stay to Play" meaning you must stay on property (a block of rooms are usually booked by your team in these situations). Has anyone used DVC points to do this & does it meet the "stay to play" requirement? I could ask our coach, but I doubt if she will have the answer and I'll end up chasing it down myself anyway.

Stay and Play packs book folks into POP or CBR (or the AllStars) from what I understand. We've done the package twice, once for hoop and this april for softball. The softball package includes 3 day park tix for everyone, full entry into WWS complex for the duration, in the group and we all got qs dining although that was not mandatory. We've got 26 of us. I'm sure you could stay DVC if you really wanted to, but it wouldnt be part of the S/P package and everyone else in the group will wonder why you're so snobby lol!

The thing about the S/P pack that you can't get around is the athletes having to stay at whatever resort Disney has designated. Obviously, if your kid is at POP you probably are too.

my husband and son ran into this situation several times for baseball. Because my husband did all the reservations for the team, he was able to arrange it with the organizers at Disney. son's name was placed in a room that had room (only 2 or 3 family members going) but we didn't have to pay for it. Because we had AP+, he didn't need tickets. We used points to stay at whatever resort we chose. Another family was DVC as well and stayed with us.

As for feeling alienated, Son went over to the host resort to spend time with teammates at the pool a couple times, but mostly all the families split and went to the parks in their free time so no big deal.

I think for this particular tournament, Saratoga Springs was an option last year & tickets were an add on option. Obviously, it would be nice to not pay to stay when we have DVC points we could use. I may try to figure out who the Travel Agency is that books the rooms and email them.
