Hey guys. So I’m worried. I have a reservation March but now we are buying a home and we need to cancel! We are December use year. We’re afraid we will lose our points. I scheduled this trip using 100 points from 2018 use year and 100 points using 2019 points. I also borrowed from 2020 about 45 points. If we cancel and book a trip for September using 134 points can we use the 2018 points? For September 2020 trip? Will we get out 2019 points back? I believe we will have to be returned like 65 points for the 2019 use year.

Just make sure you cancel at least 31 days prior to check-in (otherwise, your points would go into holding and be subject to the holding restrictions). So, after cancelling, you will then have 245 points in your Dec 2019 use year (100 banked, 45 borrowed, and 100 current) that can be used for reservations through November 30, 2020. Any new reservation will first take banked points, then borrowed points, and finally current points. So if you book a new reservation for September 2020 for 134 points, it will use the 100 banked points, then 34 of the borrowed points, leaving you with 11 borrowed points and 100 current points remaining. You should try to make use of those 11 remaining borrowed points (perhaps by extending your September trip) before they expire on November 30, 2020. The 100 current points can be banked (must do so by July 31, 2020) into the following use year.

Your March 2020 vacation is in your 2019 UY. If you cancel at least 31 days or more ahead, the points will be back into your account without holding status,

That means your 100 banked 2018 points, and the 45 borrowed points from 2020, must be used by November 30th, 2020. So, if you reschedule for Sept 2020, you can use up those points to cover it,

The 100 2019 UY points will still be bankable if you decide you don’t need them for the September trip,

If you don’t use up all of the 145 in banked and borrowed points, then yes, those will be lost
