Hello all......

I am wondering if there is any news on the DVC Point Tracker that was to be out in the spring time. This was being made "Caskbill" I think. Has anyone had any word on it yet? Has anyone been one of the lucky ones to test it?

Does anyone know if this will be a freeware program or will there be a purchase price for it?

Thanks for any input.

Well, it is still spring! ;)

Caskbill is working hard to get everything completed, but has a lot on his plate right now. The program is well worth waiting for - based on the Beta verions it is loaded with features and has anticipated all sorts of scenarios regarding DVC contracts and points. It will be available to most as a freeware program.

Hopefully, Bill will chime in on this too with more details.

Stay tuned! :)

I've had the opportunity to see the beta versions and it is, as always, excellent software with pretty much everything you'll need to track points and then some!

SInce this is available to the general public from his other DVC software download page (no log-in needed), I don't think he'll mind if I provide a link to some screen shots of the new software. http://web.nalu.net/~wneth/chart44.htm

Just by looking at the two screen shots, this is exactly what I need! Being a new member it's still tough keeping track of my banked points, when I need to use them by, etc. This will definitely be an improvement of my cobbled together Excel spreadsheet, lol.

Thanks for all the interest. I'm sorry to report it won't make a Spring release. I just ran out of time with so many projects going on, including some much needed repairs on the house that couldn't wait, and most of you know how much all of us have been doing with the DISboard DVC-boards the last couple of months.

For those who are thinking of beta testing as a number of volunteers testing a finished program, I need to explain. I'm doing this one different, and the program volunteer beta testers are actually testing the different program modules as they are completed. That's why it's not a finished program.

All the modules for entering contracts, making reservations, banking/borrowing/transferring points, etc are all completed and all 'bugs' fixed, so those modules are all complete. This includes the automatic DVC point charts build into the program, and a way to add other 'Collections' manually for when Disney changes those and you are making a reservation at a resort that isn't listed in the default category. When making reservations you may record confirmation numbers and a short memo for each reservation. (For recording more details as part of a vacation, see 'logbook' below)

There are a number of reports available, graphs, point balances presented in different ways (such as by contract, by resort, by total, by use year, etc) which are also all completed and have finished beta testing. Also finished are many edit features, and a new way Help is presented and is available when required.

Sitll incomplete are some (1) utilities, such as designating points as expired -- something hopefully no one will ever have to do, 'undoing' some transactions if you make a mistake, making manual point adjustments - for when you really mess up and just want to fix the balance, and so on. (2) a logbook feature (currently 75% completed) for each reservation made which can be used either for pre-planning or as a diary. The Logbook also includes a way to track expenses, (3) a section for selling a contract and removing it so points won't automatically be assigned every year, (4) a method to import data, if you upgrade to a future release, and (5) the notification of banking deadlines.

If you have 7-contracts spread out over 4 different resorts, the program will handle all of that just fine. It distinguishes between Add-on contracts and Master Contracts. It combines all points for the same resort for all Add-on contracts and uses the combined number for making reservations. It combines ALL Add-on contracts' points (regardless of resort) for determining banking windows and banking percentages, and lets you know how many actual points you can bank and allows you to select which individual points to bank, by resort.

The program has a number of safeguards built in. If you have 5-Contracts from Disney, and 2-Resale contracts which are not add-on contracts, and perhaps have different use years, the program treats them separately. It will not allow you to do something that isn't possible. For example it won't let you use your June OKW points in conjunction with your Sep BWV points to make a single DVC reservation since they have different use years. It will not allow you to make a reservation at BCV at the 8-month mark using your VWL points. It won't let you bank 100% of your points when you're in your 50% window.

For those of you who are using my DVC-Planner program, then just FYI, the DVC-Tracker program is at least 10-times as complex as the DVC-Planner program.

Thanks for asking.

Granny, thanks for the link

Just to let everyone know, you can just go to Caskbill.Com and from there see screen shots for all 3 programs.
