Hi...new to this DVC and learning quite a bit by everyone pitching in and helping me! THANKS :goodvibes I have a question we are considering DVC and need to know the benefits of owning one timeshare for example for 200 pts vs another for 160 pts and possibly doing an add-on to points somewhere down the line and having ownership to two resorts vs one. Which would you recommend, buying outright the points you need upfront, or half now and half later?

The benefit of owning at more than one resort is that you can book your reservation 11 months in advance where you own, 7 months at all others.

So glad that you asked this question !!! I have 175 pts at BWV and thinking of a 50 pt add on at the AKV. Is it difficult to keep track of ponits at different resorts? I love the AKL and the BWV so I thought that if I bought 50 pts at AKV then we could go there every other year and book 11 months out. How easy or difficult can this be? Thanks for your help !!!:confused3 :confused3

But you can only book 11 months out with the points you own at THAT particular resort right? So if you owned 160 at SSR, and 40 more at AKV, you can only book 40pts worth at AKV 11 months out? Doesnt seem very useful. If I'm wrong, I'm adding 25 pts at a few more resorts lol.

Just want to add that at 11 months out, you can only use the points you own at a particular resort to book a stay there. If you purchase 160 points at AKV and add on 50 points at BCV, at 11 months out you can use BCV points to book BCV, AKV points to book AKV. You cannot use BCV points to book AKV or AKV points to book BCV until the 7-month window.

You are correct. What many of us do is use banking to accumulate enough points for a stay every other year. So with 40 points at AKV, you would have 80 to use every other year or, with banking and borrowing, 120 to use every 3rd year.
