Will Disney ever offer tickets specials for DVC owners? I am not at the point I can justify annual passes currently, but it would be nice if they did something on the regular tickets for current owenrs. They offer buy 4, get three for free to people staying at the resorts; seems like they could offer something for DVC memebers since we paid in and committed to coming to Disney for many years. I know the current offer Disney makes money by having the room booked too, but again, just thinking there could be a some sort of promotion/discount on daily/weekly tickets for DVC members.

Am I missing some discount somewhere?

I doubt it.

Before the AP discount (which just came into being in 2005) our previous pass discount was 10% off Disney's "Ultimate Park Hopper" (length of stay) pass. That was pretty much a useless discount as you could usually buy Park Hopper passes from outside ticket brokers for less money.

The AP discount is a nice perk and it serves the dual purpose of encouraging more park visits. More visits means (ideally) more DVC add-ons. ;)

Even if you visit only one time per year, the AP discount can come into play if you stagger your trips a bit. APs are valid for 366 consecutive days of admission. So visit the last week of October one year and the 2nd or 3rd week the following year. That's one set of APs for two years' trips, and then you don't have to buy a new AP until you return in another year's time.

We joined in 2001. During 2001,2002 and 2003 we would trip over folks with surveys. From what I read on these boards and talking to many others at WDW. It was not unusual for folks to spend a couple of days at the resorts and a day or 2 somewhere else, Like Universal and Sea World. Alot of us would say the length of stay discount was not for us. An annual pass discount would be better. Some of the comments where if we had an annual pass we may go to EPCOT for a meal but not use a park day for that. From what I have read here after the reallocation of points a greater number than before folks are doing only Sun through Thurs visits and not staying Fri and Sat nights. We do long weekends, full weeks and partial weeks depending on time off and other issues. I think a decent park hopper ticket discount in addition to an annual pass discount would do WDW Co better with us. How folks vacation in general at WDW will dictate what WDW Co gives us for discounts. According to some of the CM's taking surveys said a very large part of the visits back then were DVC. I would take that statement with a very large grain of salt.

I am going to venture a guess (why not, right?) and say no.

DVC has their hooks into us now, securely for the most part, I think.

I am happy that DVC offers the annual passport discount to DVC members and hope that continues, but I can't see them offering anything else specific to DVC owners in the way of ticket discounts.

When we need tickets for family or friends that we invite, we usually buy through one of the outside ticket brokers for them. I'm just grateful that Disney started the AP discount for us DVC members. For us, it works, but I can see where others that don't visit as often would be better served with regular ticket discounts.

And remember that when they offer the buy 4/get 3 for cash room customers, that admission "deal" is very insignificant - a matter of a $5 or $6 discount per person, IIRC.

It's certainly possible that DVC will offer some ticket discount in the future, but I wouldn't consider it likely. Frankly, I don't see where they have any incentive to provide such a discount. When you think about it, discount on regular admission doesn't serve them at all - if you are using your points to travel each year or every other/every third year, they don't have much need to give you a discount on admission you can use in that scheme. But as most AP holders will attest, having that AP is a strong motivator for taking additional trips each year. That's what they want - for you to be on property (preferably IN a park spending money in shops and restaurants) MORE often than you otherwise would be as a DVC member.
