DVC Owners! Tell me what you like about your Home Resort

VWL - the theming (best on property in my opinion).

SSR - the Grandstand section and the extra 15 years!

BWV - The location - you can walk to two parks.

We bought SSR in 2004, love the resorts new look and location to DTD. Light and bright, open halls and park in front of the building you are in. Bought OKW 2005, Large rooms, quite location and same for parking.

Have stayed at all but AKV ( feb 08 ) and like them all for there own personal touches. I think it's like ice cream, lots of flavors you pick the one you like. :santa:

BWV--Location, location, and location. My teen can come and go as he pleases to both Epcot and MGM without much effort! We book here at 11 months!

SSR--Low maintenance fees. We bought here for the great 15 percent off deal last year and use it for last minute trips and at other resorts mostly.

I have stayed at all the DVC resorts except the AKL but it will be easy to book when the Kidani village opens I think.

Our home resort is SSR. I love the grounds at both SSR and OKW. Just absolutely beautiful. If you like peace and relaxation, SSR offers an escape from the crowds while still on Disney property. It's also very nice being so close to DTD. Especially when we don't drive, we end up eating at DTD a few times, so it's nice to be within walking distance. Lastly, if you enjoy working out, SSR has a GREAT workout facility. They also have really nice outdoor paths that lead back to OKW and it's a beautiful run.

Good luck on choosing a home resort. IMHO, there's no bad choice. I LOVE all of the resorts and have a hard time choosing every time we make our ressies! :cloud9:

We have 5 kids (12,10,10,7 and 5) and love SSR.

- the pool is great
- the kids like to hang out at the community center and it is much cheaper than letting them hang out in the arcades!
- since we normally go in the "slow season", the parks close early. We love to wander around DTD without having to spend a lot of money. kids just love to play with those legos! The Boardwalk just has a much more "adult" atmosphere or you need to dole out lots of money for those games!
- we walk to DTD and can get just about anywhere in 20 minutes, since all the resort buses go to DTD.
- grounds are nice and peaceful
- the 2 bedroom has a lot of usable space. We stayed at VWL in November and though we loved the trip, the lay-out of the room was not as usable for us.
- just love that DTD view!

Of course, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the resorts!

We love both the VWL and AKV. The design of both resorts is hard to beat.

The animals at AKV are quite a draw and the craftsmanship of WL is spectacular to witness.

We love SSR and may have to add on BWV.

We took the tour of all the properties before we bought and thinking about our family and how we vacation, SSR was first choice with BWV second.

Very active family - everyone runs or walks, workouts or rides bicycles and would rather be outside than inside. My DH plays tennis and we are also learning to play golf. The day we went to tour the models, we went early and walked around OKW and SSR. Had dinner at Artist's Palette, loved the pools and community hall and when we turned the corner and saw the bicycles, we were sold. Great workout facility and spa, plus my DDs love that DTD is just a walk away. Almost bought OKW because we have friends that own there BUT DH liked SSR more. I like to sleep in and DH likes to get up early walk to get his first cup of java and then walk/run.

For us, it wasn't just about going to the parks, it was going on vacation from the left coast. Now for serious park visits, we are considering adding on BWV because Epcot/DS are my DH's favorite parks. But if they put a DVC at the Poly, we'd be there!!

Just in case...Here is what I know about OKW.
OKW is like a spread out neighborhood of vacation townhomes. Each building is 2-3 stories and will include 1 bedroom/studio lock offs, 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom villas that are walk ups or walk ins from the parking lot right outside your door. This gives a nice secluded vacation home feel IMO. The villas are the largest in the DVC system, and have huge master baths and very large great rooms and fully appointed kitchens with full sized appliances. There is also a complete laundry room with full size washer and dryer (not stackables). There is a large covered balcony that includes a dining table, 4 chairs and a ceiling fan. The balcony is accessed from both the living room and the master bedroom. The studios are lock offs from the second bedroom in some units, and will have 2 queen beds, a large closet, a huge full bath and a kitchenette/sink area that will include a microwave, fridge, coffe maker and toaster as well as some plastic and paper table ware. There is a small table with two chairs and a large balcony for the studio rooms as well.

There are 3 neighborhood pools on site, and a larger main pool that has a sand castle slide. Each pool area includes a childs play area and a laundry for those who are staying in the studios (full size villas have their laundry room in the villa).

Bus service is excellent to all the parks, and there are 5 bus stops located throughout the resort.

We love VWL for the small size of the resort, the north woods theme, the location near MK, and the many great CMs there.
