I was disappointed yesterday when I asked a CM at our local Disney Store for the DVC discount of 10%. She said no problem, as long as I had my member card. I offered her my Disney Visa with "DVC Member" embossed on the front, but she insisted that I needed to show the actual membership card. Funny enough, DW, who rarely makes reservations, had her card, so all was well, but the whole situation got me thinking...

What's the point of having the DVC info on our card if even the Disney Store doesn't recognize it!?

FWIW, the terms of the 10% discount do specify that your DVC membership card is needed to obtain the discount. It has nothing to do with the Disney Visa.

Rrom the Members'Website:

The Disney Store Discount
Take advantage of a 10% merchandise discount at The Disney Store chain of retail shops. Please note that this does not include any Walt Disney World® Theme Park shops, resort hotel shops, or any other retail establishment run by The Walt Disney Company or its affiliated companies. You must present your Disney Vacation Club Membership card at the time of purchase. Only the person named on the Membership card is eligible for the discount. This discount is not valid on purchases made through The Disney Store Catalog or The Disney Store Online, and cannot be combined with any other special offers. The offer is not applicable to Disney ticket media, gift certificates, Disney Dollars, and other selected merchandise.

You could sell your DVC membership and still have DVC on your Visa card. The CM was following the SOP.
