IM GLAD YOU FEEL THAT WAY!!!! and even happier you didnt hold your tongue, i am sure many people feel the same way. HOWEVER, Maybe one reason might be 2 parents buy DVC to have there family reunion every year whether their kids still live them or notand think the dvc is all of theirs no matter whos name is on the deed, i dont know, but I do know everyone has their own reasons to give input as to what they feel may be a better system.

And maybe someone else bought in order to rent out their points and by selling disounted APs and saying "this is my brother" they can really clean up on eBay.

My guess is that, as much as we want it to, this won't change because you have a hard time proving these aren't complete strangers you are "selling" your discount to. You argument might get them to tighten down the "discount for people who reside at your address." It may be spouse (or domestic partner), minor children, and senior parents residing at the same address - which would be much "fairer."

(Personally, I think anyone who still has an adult child living at home needs the sympathy discount.)

I don't think you'll get what you want, but you might succeed in narrowing it for others.

ITA!!! I love DS, and he's always welcome at home, but I'm so pleased that he's on his own and self-supporting - that's worth a lot more than a $100 savings....

If the title is in two names (my daughter and I) wouldn't we both be entitled to a discount, even if she moves when she goes to college?

Your daughter will receive a Member Card and will be eligible because she is co-owner of the contract no matter where she lives.

Also, during the first several years of the DVC, didn't members get free passes every time they stayed? We only joined at the end of that time, but it was the best perk! I mentioned that in our survey, that discounts are fantastic, but it begs the question of the perk we would really want, which is the free passes back! It doesn't hurt to remind them of that (also they used to give Disneyland passes when you used points at those hotels).

It is my understanding that to get the discount they will check IDs for adults to make sure their addresses match. Not sure about kids.

I may be wrong, but I don't think anyone buying BWV received the free passes, so the incentive ended just about the time that BWV started selling.

Quite right. We bought BWV and didn't get the ticket incentive. They did offer discounts on tickets for awhile then just length of stay at a good price for BWV DVCers.

I feel they should at least offer discounts on tickets other than the AP.

While I sympathize for your situation and understand that if you are paying for them you might feel like you should get the discount, but I have to say IMHO that you put out the money for the points and they are already benefitting from your generosity. My family loves the DVC--they get my "free" accomadations, want my discounts and "would never lay out that kind of money for vacations!" I figure Disney did me a favor by not letting them take advantage of me one more time! lol Seriously though, I guess you have to put perameters on some things, so it is important that a rule is set and that they stick to it. It isnt easy to set rules, there will always be that person who it shouldn't pertain to for whatever reason. I guess just like parental and classroom discipline you set the rules and consequences and they cover everyone even if it sometimes doesn't seem fair.

SORRY but this is a perk for DVC owners. We own at BWV and have AP's and bring 8 to 10 people with us every OCT for F&WF. They get rooms for free but tickets are on them.

I can only get 2 AP discounts for DW and I and all of my guests are family and I don't feel they are entitled to the discount because they don't own DVC.

Being a family of 1,2,3 or more residing in the house is just the breaks of the game. If Disney changes it to accommodate non-members than what will they give to us true members.

We are a family of two (Madam Gracey and me), and we have a good amount of points.
While it would be nice to tie in the amount of passes to number of points owned, I understand and accept the way it is. -- After all, there was no annual pass discount when we purchased in February 2002, so this is a bonus!

I certainly wouldn't want just anyone to recieve the discount on annuals, but perhaps some sort of day discount rate if your staying with a member would be nice.

If non-household folks could get the annual discount, there would be tons of dishonesty. There would also be many folks using those discounted passes when taking a second trip without the member, and perhaps even staying off-site. That doesn't sound right to me.

Giving non-members DVC annual pass discounts makes as much sense as giving DVC members free dining passes. It makes NO sense. That is unless you want all of our dues to triple and quadruple. Do I wish our adult children (who are associates on our contracts) could get discounted APs? Sure, but do I think they should....no. They don't pay the dues, but just go along whenever they can. In fact, I end up buyin their tickets. FWIW, I think the new MYW tickets are a great price.

DVC should simply offer them to either immediately family (members and dependent children) of those on the contract regardless of address or to the list as written. They could also give a true limit of the number of passes available per contract per year, there is currently not one. Giving it to one in-law because they can produce something with the same address while not offering it to another in-law of the same degree at a different address, makes absolutely no sense.

I disagree. The odds of visiting WDW together, as a family, and all staying on property is increased if all live in the same home.

If my sister who doesn't live with me gets the discount, she would likely go without us and stay off site.

Maybe, but I don't see the pass as a mechanism to get family members to visit more. I still think it is unreasonable to allow a few extended family to get the discount while excluding other family members who may be closer relatives (like adult children). Of course there are ways to get the discount for all involved if one so choses.
