I am trying to plan my first offsite trip to Orlando. We decided to head down for Spring Break and sadly we are out of point and just cannot afford a Disney resort we are trying to save some money. I was wondering if anyone has experience with any offsite properties. We are lookiong for more of a villa/townhouse with a full kitchen. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!

We stayed at Windsor Hills once. The location is great. Google Windsor Hills Kissimmee and you should find a website with just Windsor Hills rentals. You can find better priced rentals nearby since Windsor Hills is fairly new and has more amenities than some properties. VRBO.com has a lot of listings for different developments.

We don't quite have as many points as we need, but I'm not sure if we will add on or just rent a pool home once every 3-4 years. We do enjoy staying on site, however we also really enjoyed our off site stay at Windsor Hills and would do it again. My kids would probably choose renting a 4BR home with a pool and game room over staying on site, to be honest.

We like Sheraton Vistana Villages really well - the Disboards has some pretty good no housekeeping rates during spring break.

We've been to Vistana as well, spent out honeymoon there and liked it. We also went to westgate once...Had to listen to their timeshare program that we didn't prefer to do, but did....Think we were there for 2 weeks, $300.00 for a 2bedroom suite; couldn't beat the price. :thumbsup2

My two "go-to" places are Bonnet Creek as "option 1" and Windsor Hills as "option 1A". If those don't have availability, Vistana is fine too, as are the various Marriott "Palms", just past the entrance by OKW.

Did you think of renting points from a member to stay on property? Some members have good prices for points they need to get rid of before they expire.. Check the rent trade boards. Just an idea to think about.

You can use the rent/trade board here to get DVC points from someone. If I recall, each member is allowed to transfer points (just for the one use year) to someone once a year. I did it once and it worked out great.

We used to own at Westgate Vacation Villas. Very nice, large, good amenities and great location right by the back entrance of AK. Bonnett Creek also has a great location. Orange Lake is another one with great amenities. We stayed at Marriott Harbour Lakes this past trip and loved them. They are a bit further than the rest right by SeaWorld. Good luck with your decision.

We stayed at Windsor Hills once and also really liked it. It was extremely close to AK and very easy to navigate to the other parks.

In fact, that trip made us realize that we actually prefer to drive to the parks over taking buses (monorail is still the best!!).

And -- having all of the room in a 2 BR as well as a washer/dryer and kitchen is what made us finally get serious about buying DVC points! ;)

Good luck with your decision! :thumbsup2
