DVC Madness: 12/6. Part 3 -- Artist’s Point. 12/7 -- Departure Day

WOW, that was a lot of moving around!! You had a great attitude about it, though! Thanks for sharing all your insights into the various accomodations. :thumbsup2

Something I forgot to mention in my wrap-up was our experience not renting a car. To review, we used DME to get from the airport to AKV and We-go-shop to have groceries delivered. On several occasions we didn't want to wait for the bus, usually because it was just too darn cold. Our experience with the bus to and from AKV was almost always very good. I think we usually waited no more than about 10 minutes for a bus.

All in all I think that we spent about $90 on taxis and if I guess correctly about $30 on the groceries above and beyond the cost of the groceries themselves. So I'm guessing we spent total $120 because we didn't have a car.

My feeling is that for us renting a car isn't necessary and we'll probably not do so in the future.

I liked your trip report :thumbsup2 Thanks for putting so much detail into it. The pictures were helpful in terms of figuring out the differences between the room categories. Thanks!

Just a comment about rentals...In the future, you might want to check out Hotwire for car rentals. We rented a car through Hotwire last time for a week during Dec 2010 and it was only $150 for a standard size, with tax. We didn't use it to go to and from the parks, but found it useful for groceries, etc.

Loved reading your trip report! Now I need to check into the Keys to the Kingdom Tour....looks like something we'd enjoy!
