Hi, I spotted this tour in the Vacation Magic and decided it would be a great morning activity for my DH and myself. Has anyone here done it and what did you think? Was it an enjoyable time in the MK? We have been to WDW many times and my two sons will be spending the morning at Disney Quest, so I thought this would be interesting to do. Any info is appreciated! Also how soon do you have to sign up for something like this?? :flower: :flower: :flower: Thanks, Joan

H,
Last May DH and I did the Keys to Kingdom when we visited for a few days w/o the rest of the family. I believe our tour began at 9 and was over at 2
or shortly before. It does include lunch at Columbia Harbor House. We thought it was wonderful.......great behind the scenes stuff. Great way to
spend the morning/early afternoon. We're going this May again and may do one of the other tours....I haven't had a chance to check what's available yet.

We did this a couple years ago and loved it - very informative about all aspects of MK - definitely do it!!!

I think it might be 90 days out, maybe even longer. The earliest tour is 8:30 and is about 4.5 hours. The # is 1-407-WDW-TOUR* (1-407-939-8687).

Have a great time!!! :teeth:

In terms of how far ahead you can book it, you can do it whenever you're ready.
I booked the Hidden Treasures of World Showcase about 60 days out. When I asked how far ahead we need to book, the CM said they are taking ressies for any day throughout the year.
Have fun! :)

We did it in May 2002 and were very disappointed. Maybe it was just our guide but we knew more "behind the scenes" stuff than she did and we only got to go in one tiny part of the utilidor under the Emporium. It was such a disappointment that we have not wanted to do a tour since. JMHO.

DH and I did this this past February. We both loved it! Our guide was very informative, the group only stumped her once. It was a long tour starting at 9:30 a.m. and not ending til 2:45 pm, but there are lots of "sitting breaks", and a nice leisurely lunch at Columbia Harbor House (included in the price of the tour). I wanted to see actual floats, but they were all in a covered area, even though we did go "backstage" - don't get me wrong it wasn't a disappointment because there were so many other things to learn back there. We also had a nice look into the utilidors, and spent quite some time down there learning about it. Very interesting, really great for those of us who want that backstage info. We highly recommend this tour and we look forward to doing others. Have fun!

We just did this tour in Feb. We loved it! Our tour guide was Brick. He was great. From some of the things I have read, the tour guide can make or break the tour. If they will let you request someone, request Brick. He has been with Disney in many jobs and had awesome overall knowledge about all things on the tour. Don't forget your DVC discount too!

We've taken the tour....Twice now. That probably tells you what we think of it.

Guess it's time to do it again soon.....

Keys to the Kingdom was the first tour we went on.
We loved it. Candy was our guide.
We were more worried about the time lsot in the parks doing what we wanted to do as opposed to the cost of the tour.
Previous posted said it was worth every penny.
We think it was worth every minute.
It was great.

One of the things I was so looking forward to was the trip below Main Street. Even though we spent very limited time underground, the rest of the tour made up for it.

I took the tour in January and loved it. At that time, the Disney Visa was offering a higher discount than DVC.

I thought it was worth every penny.

Thank You so much for ALL of your replies! I will be booking, and now I cannot wait to experience it! And I will remember the discount! Seems like a pretty good deal with LUNCH included. Both DH and I enjoy the Columbia Harbor House. Thanks again! Joan :cool1:

Erin C......Brick was our guide also......he was fantastic, wasn't he....extremely knowledgable about everything .....did he tell you anything about going up to turret of the castle with Tink (one of the Tink's is a good friend of his) when it was time for her fireworks flight? How scary it is going up the circular steps? We're looking forward to possibly doing Future World tour this May......haven't made up our mind yet.

I've done both the Keys to the Kingdom and Behind the Magic and have loved both. Yes I knew pretty much everything that they told us, as I'm sure most people here on the Dis would also, but enjoyed it anyway. We booked both tours the day before. My son is 16 and has been waiting so he can do this too (last year he turned 16 on the last day of our vacation and they would not let him go on it) so we'll probably do it again this year. I think all Disney fans would enjoy this tour.

Have Fun!!!

Yes, he did mention his trip with Tink. He also told us about taking Princess Diana and her boys on a VIP tour of the MK. He said that was probably his most prestigious tour. He made our tour. Of course the fact that DD8, DD5, DD1 were with grandparents and DH had 6 hours alone may have clouded my rememberance of the day!! :teeth:
