Thanks Disney67 for passing on phone number :) Not sure just yet if we can be there, sounds like fun though & would be nice to meet up with other DIS'ers.

Just an FYI NYC World of Disney closed on 5th Ave and a regular Disney Store replaced it on Times Square. It's super disappointing compared to WoD store. No pins, hardly any adult shirts, items, etc. It's mainly just princess stuff.

you are so right i have a habbit of saying WOD and i know it is like the one in rooservelt field all for the princesses and the prince charmings but i say if i cannot be in WDW this is like the best second i will have :goodvibes

DH and I will definitely be there. Be sure to say hi if you see me. There are photos of me in my trip report (link in signature) to use as a reference. It'd be nice to meet some of you!

omg.....had no idea. Loved that NYC WOD. Last there Dec 2008. We were visiting all the sights in NYC that day and made a special trip to see WOD toward the end of our day. They had such unique items. I would certainly not make a special trip to see this new Times Square location---which is generic of any other Disney Store from the sounds of it. I really think all the Disney Stores should be renamed the Disney Princess Store.

I just was there with my dd three weeks ago. Do not make a special trip. It is simply just a store. Nothing special, except maybe some NYC Disney pins....

Have to agree w/ PP. Not worth a special trip. They had a D23 member event at the Times Square Store a couple of months ago. We took the hour train ride in & were very disappointed. We wouldn't take another trip in specifically for that...we didn't get a tour though. We sat in the big screen area (same as Roosevelt Field's) and did trivia & listened to a spiel about D23. Blah Blah Blah. We didn't get 10% off, but as Disney Visa members, we got 10% off of our purchase anyway that day. They do have some store specific NY Disney merchandise, but not much.

Meeting other Dis'ers would make it worth it, but just to see the store itself, I don't think it is.

Have a great time, as I'm sure you will!

This is what we decided at 6am when the alarm went off. We wound up.going back to sleep. I was upset until I read the comments here. Thanks for that.

well, it just so happens we are in NYC this weekend! We were waiting outside the Disney store, because it hadn't openend yet, when someone mentioned there were people in there early because they're DVC members. I always have my card with me, so I showed it to the security guard and we got in. I agree that this store is COMPLETELY disappointing. It's just like the one at the local mall, really. We did each get a really nice DVC pin. The 10% discount doesn't mean much when there's nothing you want to buy, though!

I'm a DVC member, and I live on Long Island not far from the Roosevelt Field Mall, and have attended member events there. I did not receive an email about this.

I'm now kicking myself simply bc of the pin. That is the one reason we wanted to make it there this morning. :sad1:
We ended up making it there later in the day after visiting my mom at memorial Sloan kettering hospital in the city.

Hi guys we had a day to relax after a long day in NYC yesterday .
It was alot of fun we got there at 8am no one was there yet except the cleaning people for the disney store . At around 820am a few DVC members started to show up and just after 830 they let us in then about 5 minutes later they gave us a little thanks to everyone who put this together and thanks to the gm of the disney store for having us . T hey took us upstairs for a trivia game where they gave away tiny presents like a key chain and magnets then after that we could either chat with the DVC reps , or color and learn some disney dances like the hot dog dance , or play with the build a car and race them , they gave us a half hour then they gave the kids masks for there imagination parade around the store . after that any DVC member with there card got 10% off or if you forgot yours the reps help to get the discount and it was good all day till closing sunday . The really nice CM was nice enough to give molly and philip both an Unbirthday birthday they got there names on the big screen in store and certificates it was overall a really big huge store with NYC only merchendise and alot of magical stuff for the kids . And on top of that they told us by memorial or labor day they are going to be making the store bigger . It was a magical day wish you all could of attended it was soo much fun.
