Any of you DVC veterans care to pass along any tips for a pair of DVC newbies?? Any tips would be welcomed. We just bought at SSR last week. Thanks in advance.

Most of my tips are resort specific but overall I would suggest planning as far ahead as you can. By booking at 11 months you should always get what you want. I would also suggest to be careful with the banking deadlines. Make sure you know and understand the banking process. You don't want to give back any points.

Have fun and welcome home.

Congratulations. Welcome Home.

Download one (or both) of the planning/points manager programs. They'll help you keep tabs on your points, and help you dream up cool ways to spend them.

The 2 that I use are DVCManager by David Fredrickson, and DVC Vacation Planner by Caskbill.

Sorry. don't have a links handy at the moment, and search has been disable.

WELCOME HOME! :Pinkbounc

Have fun planning years of trips ahead trying to figure out how long you can stay and who you want to invite along! My favorite thing is to invite guests and get them excited about the planning. It helps this WDW veteran feel like a newbie again when we have guests who are new to WDW!

Hi,

Congrats & welcome home!!! My tip is to have fun & also do what you want with your points!!! So if you want to stay @ a non-dvc resort once in awhile, go ahead!!

Have fun with your points, best thing we've ever done!

Thanks eveyone for the cool tips. We are so looking forward to using our DVC membership. We have gone to WDW 6 times in the last 3 years without DVC and we're kicking ourselves over the money we wasted on rooms during those stays that could have gone for a DVC membership. Oh well. At least we have great memories now with DVC we can build new memories for years to come. And thanks for welcoming us home..

My tip would be to visit this site as much as possible, since you can get more info on a daily basis.

Some other general tips I can give based on my personal experience -

1. Invite friends and family as often as you can. DVC is better experienced with groups. You get more space and more interaction & more fun as a group in a 2 bedroom than a studio.

2. Learn more about WDW hidden features and impress your friends. Before you know it, you'll be the expert telling everyone about WDW/ DVC, and organizing annual gathering(s).

3. Don't buy more points until you've been there a couple of times. You can always rent. It is, afterall, a vacation club. Don't let it hurt your financial creditability.

Enjoy and welcome home. :)
