My dw and I decided on our most recent trip (Memorial Day Weekend) to buy into DVC. We are buying into the Beach Club. Our first DVC stay will likely be next February.

Now I have another board to keep my eyes on....:bounce:

Car 3'er buying into DVC, what would Baron and Raider think :-)

Congrates on the purchase. BCV is a great resort.

That is Car #3 with A LOT of hope and LOVE for WDW. By definition, I fall into #3, but my heart has me in #2.

My DH and I also took the plunge and bought into Beach Club on May 17 while we at WDW for a anniversary getaway. We figured since it was the 5th trip in 4 years we ought to stop wasting our money on other lodging. We are so excited! Our first trip home will probably be next March. Our DD and DS don't know yet. Won't they be surprised to be able to swim at SAB. Yahoo!!:smooth: :Pinkbounc :jester:

The "Welcome Home" part is what really sold my dw. She loves that!!!!!

Now, after scouring the DVC Board, I am wondering if I bought enough points. We purchased 200, but were only going to get 160. Guess that we will have to watch the resales and buy more points, as I get bonuses from work.

I have not seen all the paperwork as of yet. We just finalized the deal yesterday. We chose to sell back our points for this year. What I am not sure is what our use year is... I was tinking Jan 1. My Bank date is set for May 31. Any thoughts? Is BCV maybe Dec 1st?

I am not sure how the whole banking / borrowing thing works, so I am trying to do lots of reading. How long can points be banked for? If I bank points in 2004, do they need to be used by the end of 2005?

Thanks again... As I said, we love the "Welcome Home!"

Welcome home to disneyfreak2127 as well! We did the same, only if we had applied all that money spent on lodging to DVC before.

Eeyore (my oldests fav) -

Congrats on your purchase. We have our first trip home TOMORROW :Pinkbounc

Will be sure to scope out the best of BCV and report when we return!!!

First things first....Congratulations and Welcome Home!!!:bounce:

As for the banking, yes you can only bank one year. But keep in mind that your use year is the beginning of a year....not the calendar year. So if you have an August use year, and you bank points from one year, you have until the end of the next year's use year.

To be clearer...If you have your 2003 points from an August use year contract...and you bank them to your 2004 use year, you will have until the end of July 2005 to use those points. Because you don't receive them until August 2003. Make sense?

Borrowing is also for one year only. And you don't borrow until you make a reservation that requires borrowing.

Enjoy!!

Thanks Granny... I think that I get it. I am just not sure if my use year is Jan 1 or Dec 1. It does not make a difference this year, but it may in the future. We really like the World the first week or two of December. We are selling back our points this year, and are going to try to get something booked for Feb 2004, once everything is finalized. We will more than likely bank whatever is left over from our Feb trip, if our use year is in fact Dec 1. I just can not remember what Gib said that it was going to be.

Congratulation on your purchase and Welcome Home! We were going to buy 150 points originally, then before we left Disneyworld, we bumped up our contract to 175. Couple months later we did an add-on, then purchased a resale. I guess we became collectors of DVC points!(like many others!) We have enjoyed our DVC trips so much, and have only been members for a little over 2 years. Enjoy!

Welcome Home neighbor!!

I just gave my wife a DVC birthday present and now we're BCV DVC members just like you:wave: !! (1 day old officially!!) As far as the number of points thing it really just depends on how many people and how often you plan on vacationing. We have 1 DD (8 months old) and plan on having more Dkids so I chose 300 points to get us started. I figured this would be plenty for our family AND if ever we wanted...gulp...our parents to join us on a vacation;) . Congratulations and welcome again.
