DVC Helps Ease Life's Pressure

About a month ago, the Los Angeles Times reported on a psychological study that actually proved that the biggest benefits from a vacation actually come from looking FORWARD to the time. Most benefits of a vacation wear off anywhere from 1-14 days after your return. But the benefits are felt 3-6 months before the vacation with the anticipation. Therefore, as DVC owners, we can reap benefits for at least half the year because we can know that there's another "Welcome Home" in our very near future!

As my DW and I say, "We work to support our vacation habit."

Thats Awesome!!!

I've been listening to Disney music on the D-Cot Jukebox all day at the desk and that really helps turn a frown upside down. It is the best background music anywhere!

Totally agree to all... i also have a delivery route and listen to the different cd's as well...pixar and disney, finding nemo....
We did have to sell our DVC, but looking to get back in. DVC makes planning, and enjoying Disney that much better! :thumbsup2

I love this!! Our next trip isn't for a year, but DH is pushing for a trip in April - he says even if its to relax at the resort - cause we have the points!! :D

Everything here is so true. We have two trips planned before the end of the year and I spend my down time from my job raising a six year old and two one year olds, plus running a house and dealing with three dogs planning our trips and lurking on the boards. It helps me unwind. Today, I'm sipping a cup of tea while my little ones sleep. The looking forward to is the best part. The trips only last 7-10 days but the planning goes on all year.

I completely agree! Sometimes when I am having a stressful day, I'll pop on to DISboards for a few minutes. These boards and planning my next vaca keep me going!

I found out today that I might have to travel to Orlando on business in February. So.... sounds like I'll be visiting sooner than planned cuz I can't be in Orlando Monday-Thursday and not stay the weekend. Thank you DVC!

Awwww! I love this thread! :lovestruc

It's so true! We've had a very busy, very crazy summer around here and knowing that, thanks to our DVC ownership, we have 2 trips to WDW coming up before the end of the year!

DH and I look at our DVC membership in several different ways. One is as an investment in our marriage! Our trip in Oct is just him and I! It's going to be fabulous! ANother is as an investment in our family! No matter how busy we get we know that family time at WDW is right around the corner! Another is as a stress reliever! There's always so much going on it's fabulous to be able to remove ourselves from the outside craziness at WDW!

I was so glad to hear someone state it in the exact same manner as we would!!! My DH works lots of hours in a stressful job so I can stay home and take care of our little guys. I know that my DH needs a break about every 3 months - either the two of us or the whole family - to stay sane and emotionally healthy. DVC makes sure we spend that time together and as a family. 35-50 days a year at Disney definitely puts us all in a better mood and what better way to spend our time but together at the happiest place on earth!!!

I agree, having something to look forward to helps tremendously. We have had a rough year with the loss of our newborn son and planning this next trip has kept me going strong. I don't know what I would be doing otherwise.

:grouphug:I am so so sorry.

I also express my heartfelt sympathy. May God be with you and give you hope.

Everything eveyone has said is so true. I so look forward to my Disney trip each year. If I didn't have this to look forward to there would be some days that would be unbearable!!! ;)

Malibelle - my deepest sympathies on the loss of your child.

It is really great to look forward to a DVC vacation. It relieves life's many stresses. I cannot wait until my next vacation which will be another cruise.

Wow!
We must be in the best place right now. We have booked 2 AKLs stays and a DCL every other month for the next 6 months.

I so agree with this post. My DH works a high stress job and he puts in no less that 12 hours a day. We had a couple of unforeseen expenses this year, so I said I could just rent the points and we could just go at a later date. He told me "NO WAY am I working as hard as I work and skipping our vacation. I'm looking forward to it and I need it." Boy was I relieved.:worship: I'm a stay at home mom of 3 and I really look forward to a change of scenery. Sometimes life just seems like Groundhog's day. I never, ever do anything for myself. Life pretty much revolves around the kids. We live in a small town with not a ton of entertainment or dining options. We all need some excitement and look forward to leaving our little town to see the World!:wizard: Having our DVC is keeping us sane. Personally, I am always in planning mode:laughing:

I so agree with everything that has been said. Both my DH and I have stressful jobs. Planning our DVC vacation keeps me going. We've only just got back and planning already - helps to beat the post holiday blues.
