I have had a lousy couple of days but being tied into DVC really helps me cope. Have fun things to look forward to for myself and the family make life's pressures seem a little easier.

I know its expensive but the there in an intangible feature that makes it all worth while. When you go on vacation all the pressure just melts away. Knowing this makes the current pressure a little easier to bear.

Sometimes I feel like I am in the Silly Symphony cartoon with all the burdens of life swirling around my head like a tornado. Maybe it is an over exaggeration but sometimes it is not especially when you hold positions of diverse responsibility.

It would be much easier to be one of the crew following Peter Pan singing "Following the Leader" rather than the one doing the leading. But this is my calling so I must do it joyfully even though I need to vent every so often.

Having DVC gives me an escape where I can just melt into the crowd and enjoy my self doing whatever I want in a "World" that has the greatest amenities on the face of the earth all designed for my enjoyment.

I agree! You remind me of my husband so much. He works a stressful job with lots of long days and knowing he has our DVC trips to look forward to really makes him feel great!

Our friends and family and co-workers think we're nuts and just "don't get" our deal with Disney and why we go so much. Oh well! We love it and that's all that matters! :lovestruc

I also agree. Our lives are so busy all the time. We so look forward to our family time together. Just planning our next trip makes me so happy.

I couldn't agree more. I'm a single-parent with a very stressful job as an IT project lead on a high profile project, homeschool my special needs child and care for two elderly parents (yes I am the peanut butter in the multi-generational sandwich).

We do Disney twice a year and spend leisure time in between planning our trips. It's something everyone (even my mother who has Alzheimer's) looks forward to. I get to leave the schedule, blackberry and laptop behind and just enjoy the magic and some guaranteed fun with the family.

DVC is my mental health plan:rotfl:

Planning our next DVC stay helps me get through the day sometimes. I am sitting here trying to figure out our trip next year when we haven't even taken our trip this year. I don't really have any hobbies, which reminds me I really need to get one, so in the mean time I spend my time trying to figure out our trips.

Sometimes I think....we really can't afford this:confused:Then I realize we can't afford NOT to:cloud9: I believe it keeps our family sane. It's the only time we all get together for an extended period. My son was just furloughed from his teaching job at our inner city school in Harrisburg, PA. Last week we decided to go to Disney THIS WEEK for some much needed mental R & R.:guilty: You can't believe how his spirits have picked up.....

Absolutely agree. After a stressful day, this helps me unwind. I just finished reading a book about all of these secrets of WDW and now I'm on DIS. It puts me in my happy place.:goodvibesHave a treehouse booked for spring break and still deciding if I should just keep it, or try for a different resort. Love reading all the posts. A perfect nightcap!

In complete agreement with what everyone has said!! My husband works a very stressful job that includes most Saturdays so he loves our trips to Disney to unwind and spend time with the family. Just returned in July and already talking about our trip in June, 2011. :goodvibes

About a month ago, the Los Angeles Times reported on a psychological study that actually proved that the biggest benefits from a vacation actually come from looking FORWARD to the time. Most benefits of a vacation wear off anywhere from 1-14 days after your return. But the benefits are felt 3-6 months before the vacation with the anticipation. Therefore, as DVC owners, we can reap benefits for at least half the year because we can know that there's another "Welcome Home" in our very near future!

As my DW and I say, "We work to support our vacation habit."

I couldn't agree more. We're about 7 weeks out from our next vacation and planning is alot of fun work that actually brings our family together.

Couldnt agree more with all comments. The beauty of DVC for us is it allows us to sample resorts we would not able to generally afford. We only go once a year due to the costs involve in flying at peak periods (July) school holidays. When we walk into BWV and just smell the air we know we are on holiday and the next 2-3 weeks are going to be the best ever. Roll on next July.

Yep..my Dad always said that you have to have something to look forward to and something to plan...very true. I enjoy the anticipation nearly as much as the trip. I work to support my travel habit..at least my second job and other little supplemental income things.

I agree, having something to look forward to helps tremendously. We have had a rough year with the loss of our newborn son and planning this next trip has kept me going strong. I don't know what I would be doing otherwise.

That's exactly the way DH feels right now. And for that I thank DVC. Pre-DVC, I don't think he really looked forward to our WDW vacations so much, because they were pretty busy. Now he knows we'll relax, have some good food (maybe Beaches and Cream, maybe Biergarten, maybe someplace new)-wherever we can get in that day, hopefully he'll get to ride Soarin but if not-oh well, there's always next time. DVC has just changed his perspective on WDW trips so much.

amen! I needed this thread, to find there really are other people out there just like me!:goodvibes

Friends that aren't quite as much a disney fanatic as I am don't understand why I am already planning next June's vacation when I haven't even gone on November's yet.... but it is my hobby and I enjoy the planning almost as much as the actual trip~ It takes longer to plan, strategize, make dining reservations, etc. then it takes to actually take the vacation itself, so I enjoy my DVC ALL year long! Not just when I am actually there...:woohoo:

Sometimes even my husband don't get it and I have to reel him in to the next trip, when he is stressed from work and needing a vacation slip in little thoughts like "man, we could go to HHI in June and fish, sleep in, swim and relax...sound like fun?" then I get the green light to start planning our next adventure.

I do have some wise friends and co-workers that recognize the planning skills and Disney wisdom my hobby has allowed me to develop and tap in to their own private travel agent when they plan their vacations~ Never had a complaint, one even jokingly offered to pay me to come on theor family vacation to be their personal tour guide!:rotfl:

Awwww! I love this thread! :lovestruc

It's so true! We've had a very busy, very crazy summer around here and knowing that, thanks to our DVC ownership, we have 2 trips to WDW coming up before the end of the year!

DH and I look at our DVC membership in several different ways. One is as an investment in our marriage! Our trip in Oct is just him and I! It's going to be fabulous! ANother is as an investment in our family! No matter how busy we get we know that family time at WDW is right around the corner! Another is as a stress reliever! There's always so much going on it's fabulous to be able to remove ourselves from the outside craziness at WDW!
