A family in Wisconsin was the fortunate winner of Extreme Home Makeover. In the news articles it states, "During the reconstruction of their home, the family will be sent to the Disney Vacation Club in Hawaii"

I did not think it opened until 2011? Did I miss the announcement?

Maybe their home is going to be rebuilt in 2011 :lmao:.

You are correct. The DVC resort is not planned to open until 2011.

Don't you love the way that Disney plugs their business!

Something to dream about! God Willing, Sept 2013..youngest tucked safely away in college! 30 yr anniversary..Hawaii!!!!!!!!!Can't wait!:love::love::love::love::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Its funny i found an article online here that confirms whats being said here in the blog but it has to be a mistake...

they hardly broke ground on the resort in hawaii and the contstruction on the house takes place this week so how would they be able to go there now if nothings even close to being complete?........

Maybe Disney is having them stay at Marriott Ko Olina . . . ;)

I guess that could be it but then technically its not a disney vacation club resort but a marriott timeshare or part of RCI.

i wrote to the news station to question the story so ill post an update once i hear from them

It's an RCI trade. Would be more correct to say that they were being sent "to Hawaii via Disney Vacation Club."

I figured it was being used as advertisement for DVC Hawaii, but I also was wondering where they were having them stay. I thought maybe it was further along than I thought and they would "mock up" a room to use on TV. Then I found pics online and it is just a very new construction site! No buildings or anything! I agree that it should have been worded "sent to Hawaii via Disney Vacation Club".

The family is apparently on their way to Hawaii today and demolition has begun on their home. It is really exciting to see in our rural area! It will be so fun to watch the show this fall!

Maybe they went on an Adventures by Disney trip to Hawaii?

does anyone have any idea when they are going to start selling for hawaii
and if the mock up room will be in florida or hawaii

Sales can start a year before the resort is finished and they will probably complete construction in phases so they can sell ASAP. There will be a model at the SSR Preview Center.

On another note, the Studio, One Bedroom and Two Bedroom models at BLT will be opening by the end of the week. That means that there will be models at SSR and BLT for now.

Great idea! Have fun planning!

We're heading to Kauai for our 30th in Feb 2010. Our actual anniversary is in March, but due to work issues we're celebrating a month early.

We spent 2 1/2 weeks in Hawaii for our 25th and another 3 weeks on our 35th! Great place for an anniversary trip! We plan to do it again on our 45th in a couple of years!

Best of Luck for many more Anniversary's for those who are fortunate enough to spend one in Hawaii! Great stuff in today's times, being married 20 years or longer! A rarity by today's standards!:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

Enjoy HAWAII!:cool1::cool1::cool1::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

Diane, I love how the trips get longer for each ten years! I'll have to work on that.

Our 25th is April 2011 - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Ko Olina to be open for an anniversary trip!!! :hippie:  pirate:
