DVC Guidebook ?

Just curious--Do we receive new member guidebooks every year? The one I just got (we just bought) is not updated with the BCV. Thanks!

Last year was actually the first year for the form of guidebook you got. New one's are supposed to be sent annually (meaning we won't see the next one until late Fall). They did have a mailing to show BCV points chart. In the old days (before last year, we had a binder and they just updated pages of the binder usually at least once, and sometimes more often, per year). Why they changed is unknown. Some say it is cheaper just to make a new book each year. Others suspect it is because the binder of members before 2001 had a page containing a specific statement which said DVC Members were entitled to use all the pools at WDW (and it was more or less stated as an absolute right). New book does not have that statement. Thus, some suspect the change was to cover up and bury the pool hopping right so they could take it away at Stormalong Bay.

Hopefully the guidebook we get in the fall is put together much better , most of the new books everybody recieved 4-5 months ago are falling apart (pages falling out, cover coming off,etc)

Mine fell apart quickly. Being a new member (Nov '01) I read it constantly. I punched holes in the pages and made my own binder of it. So far it's worked out great because the binder has pockets to hold notes etc and when I received the BCV info I just punched holes in it and added it in.

Thanks for the info! One of the reasons for the question was b/c mine, too, is already coming apart. I thought, "Geez, I hope this doesn't have to last me forever!"

I too was under the impression that we got one every year but don't remember DVC actually stating that. An email I got from MS recently suggested that maybe it would be 2003 before we got a new one.

The only update to the Members will be on the web-site and in the 2003 Member Guidebook.

Page 5 in the Member Guide Book addresses the annual reissue of new "MGB's" but does'nt say issue date - I would assume around the first due's payment - wild guess.

I think the weight of our guidebook has more than doubled........48% original guidebook..........52% tape.
