DVC for less has taken the fun out of treasure hunting

You can just block that site on your browser, right? Maybe block it on one browser, and have another where it's not blocked so you can have your fun but then go double check yourself when desired?

They only refresh every hour or longer, you can try to see if you can catch postings between refreshes. Or look at some obscure sites not picked up by the aggregators.

for a good deal. Maybe I’m the only one but I enjoyed scouring all the different sites over a cup of Joe to find that diamond in the rough. Now it takes 30 seconds. Efficient for sure but not as fun.
Ha, yea that is true. I feel like I’m not missing any if I use them where as if I went searching on my own I might forget to check one.

I will say though that sometimes it's already too late for those gems by the time they show up on the aggregator. I've gotten my hopes up a few different times lol.

I believe the refresh rate is actually longer than this.

I think me and DVCforLess need to sit down and talk about what is a Four Star and Five Star deal.
Lets chat! I'd genuinely love to get your feedback. We have some tweaks planned to the scoring logic but nothing remotely set in stone so your feedback would be very welcomed. PM me.

Some current areas of focus:
  • Tweak our valuation of current-year excess/missing points.
  • Adjust for broker fees.
  • Improved logic for when seller is "paying the dues".
  • Adjust for broker promotions (eg $500 rebate for closing costs)
  • Possible penalties for certain contract types (i.e. jumbo contracts of 500 points or more).
We recently added price history to the listings and normalized our statuses across brokers. We're currently working on adding new statuses so you can easily track and alert for "rare" listings like Aulani subsidized dues, guaranteed weeks, non-negotiable pricing, etc.

Not the person you asked, but would love to be able to sort by use year.

I'll put these here. Maybe others will add to them...but...

* The one-star ratings needs to be used, otherwise it's a meaningless category. And there's a lot of extremely overpriced two-star contracts that should be one or maybe zero stars (I'm looking at you Vero Beach at $90pp). Zero stars should be a sign that no one, under any circumstances, should buy that. And there's a chunk that fit this rating, too.

* IMO, five star should be saved for something truly unusual. I'm looking at your site right now. Here are some things that should NOT be five star contracts. A partially stripped OWK (57) 75 points contract at $116. A VDH contract with no points until March 2027 at $160. An Aulani with no points until March 2027 at $92 (side note, last month I bought a 100-point Aulani contract with all of its points at $78pp. That is a five-star contract.). A GF contract with no points until Aug 2027 at $149. And so on.

* If the "stripped" issue is causing problems, you could simply put a limiter that prevents any contract without at least some 2025 points from getting more than three stars. That system might not be perfect--if you can't create a formula that accounts for missing points by dollar value--but it would be closer to perfect than the current system.

* There are similar issues with some four-star listings. SSR at $105pp isn't a four-star deal. You can find many SSR contracts in that range for less than $105. There's others like that, but that's a good example.

Anyway, I think that would be a starting place.

I do find your site useful and check it most mornings.

Feature request: I would like an option on the site/app to "select all" for which resorts and then uncheck the few I don't want to see. This is a purely lazy-me request because it'd be fewer clicks for unchecking the non wdw resorts coming from that direction of narrowing down.

Or click the master resorts to get all below it. Click WDW and get all Orlando resorts without clicking each.

I don't have that option available on the dvcforless app. I've seen a wdw click option on another aggregator site but I don't see it here.

This exactly! A partially stripped Riviera for $172 point is highway robbery and needs to be 1 Star.

Otherwise, I love the site and I spend way too much time on it trying to get the perfect contract.
