Ok, I have gone through some stickies but I am still totally confused. My in-laws are thinking of purchasing. We are leaving for WDW next week and we may do a tour. My problem?? The whole thing confuses me!! LOL
Can someone lead me to a simpler descrition of how the whole thing works?
We travel to WDW every year. We like to stay at least a week, but usually 10 days. I am under the impression that it is not worth it to buy DVC because the amount of points needed for weekends is crazy. Is this true?

Thank you for any help!! :worship:

You might try dvcnews.com. It has a pretty good description of the program.

Also, the folks who publish the popular PassPorter's WDW also publish a guide to DVC.

if you stay a week or 10 days, it probably averages out but you should run the numbers for yourself. there are point charts linked in the top right-hand corner of the screen to work out how many points you would probably need at your preferred DVC resort. you can then find links to pricing and dues information below...

definitely ask any questions you like, but here is more research material to get you started:

here is a link to a basic DVC FAQ.

here is another FAQ

here are some general information you might find interesting:

is DVC for me?

here is a thread for more info about choosing a home resort.

here is a link to historical annual dues per point for the different DVC resorts.

and if you are ready for slightly more advanced information:

here is a thread for understanding use year.

for pricing/buying information:

here is a thread for understanding the general differences between buying resale and direct.

here is (usually accurate) current pricing for contracts purchased directly.

there is a link above for resale listings.
