We stayed in a cabin at the Davy Crockett Ranch at Disneyland Paris (then EuroDisney) and we'd like to do it again at Fort Wilderness. It's pretty pricey so I'd like to use our points instead. I have looked through the points charts and I see the campground information but what about a cabin?

The cabins are listed on the Disney Collection point charts, with the Deluxe resorts -- not on the same page as the campsites.

Keep in mind there will be a $95 reservation fee plus once you book the cabins, those points can no longer be used for DVC resorts if you change your mind.

We had to cancel a cruise and wound up staying in the cabins last month instead. They are not a 1 br villa but we were able to survive. The biggest thing that we missed were the additional bathrooms and the washer and dryer that we are accustomed to. Other than that it was a pleasant stay. Our family enjoyed our stay and got to experience another resort thanks to DVC.

i didnt think the $95 was charged for Disney Collection resorts.....only on non disney resorts. Hmmmm

If they are available, consider instead the Treehouse Villas. A similar experience, but probably a more efficient use of points, as the room is *much* larger and better equipped.

Have done the THVs twice now and have had enough. While they are large inside, they are so dark. No sunshines through the windows because of the trees and the kids hated that there was no drink refill station.

Honestly, we're all about new experiences and want to do it all. Just exploring options. Maybe we'll walk around the cabins the next time we're in florida just to have a look.

Thanks for all the great info.

Consider renting a golf cart for your time at the cabins. They really add to fun. The only thing we miss is the washer/dryer in the room.

We stayed in the cabins for the first time last summer. Now, understand that my wife and DD consider only one bathroom as "roughing it". They had an absolute blast. Definitely rent the golf cart. It was great to zip around, even at $60+ a day.

We will be there again this summer for a couple days, pre-cruise.

I have tried to get information on camping at Disney using my points, but I can never get a straight answer as to how many points it would take a night or when time is available. The CM helping has me give her dates and she says "Unavailable". After going through three months I asked what was available and her response was "It doesn't work that way, I can't tell". HUH???? Does anyone have this info? Thanks

OOPS Found it.

Golf carts from Disney rented for about $65 per day. We rented from Kenny, off site, who delivered directly to our campsite. We paid about half of what Disney wanted. More info on him is on the camping disboards.

If you rent a golf cart from Kenny you will now have to meet him outside of Fort Wilderness to pick up and return your cart, he still has better prices then DW and is worth the extre effort to get the cart.

Where is "outside of Fort Wilderness" ? I would be interested if it isn't oo much of a hassle.

Just wanted to give another positive report about the cabins. We loved them and Ft Wilderness. Definitely get the golf cart, SO much fun! Also, try to get on the cabin loops closest to the center of FW. Very easy to get to the little trading post and campfire/ movie/ pool area from these loops, even without a golf cart. I also loved taking the boat launch from FW to MK, so relaxing. You just drive the golf cart down to the dock and park. There is a nice sized playground there close to the dock and lots of open spaces with rockers out on porches and the bay lake in the background. We were there at spring break and found FW to be the most peaceful retreat away from the park crowds. Would not hesitate to book there again.

It used to be the overflow lot but I think now it is on the exit road from the campground, on the side of the parking lot.

I agree.. Very relaxing. We stayed there for a week a few years ago, enjoyed every minute of it. We had no plans to go to any of the parks that week though, just relaxation, a little pin trading, and hanging out. We were close to the center of FW and close to laundry facilities (there are several of them) so not to bad if needing to wash clothes. After about 2 days we rented a golf cart to get around and I agree it is much easier than walking even when close to the center. Love the petting zoo and horse stables. Plenty to do just in the FW area. Horse back riding, petting zoo, activities by the pool.

We were there in August and all the trees made it feel much cooler. The cabins have a big porch on them. We did a WalMart run the first day to stock the kitchen and bought a tarp type of tent/canopy and put that over the porch. Helped to block the sun and any small passing sprinkles so we could eat at the picnic table on the porch. (there is only a small table in the cabin) We are a large family... The oldest did not go and we were at max capacity for the cabin (6 + baby). But 1 bath made it difficult; but we made it work and had a good time; especially when the kids started chasing the armadillo..but thats another story...

That is absolutely the experience we want. Now how to make it happen sooner. :cool1: No more points for this use year but perhaps a cash reservation. :confused3

Thanks for the info. I got Kenny's number off of the Camping board. We just made our reservation for 8/3 to 8/6, so I'll give Kenny a call and see what the deal is.
