DVC for 1st and 3rd

Can I use DVC point for the 1st and 3rd persons, and pay cash for the 2nd?

Hi!
I was talking to MS recently about a cruise and from what I understood from the conversation you can divide up who's paying in points and who's paying in cash anyway you like. You can use cash for 1st and 2nd and points for 3rd if you like. The CM I talked to said this wasn't always the case.

You only need to pay points for the first person. We have paid points for the first and third twice and paid cash for the other adult.
