DVC folks that drive and dine some offsite?? What are your faves?

If you make a left out the Downtown Disney exit onto Apopka-Vineland there is a Black Angus which is wonderful. Beats Le Cellier on both quality and price. Also Fuddruckers at the crossroads is great and cheap.

Has anyone eaten at Chevy's? Is it good? What kind of food is it? Mexican?

Chevy's is good...it is a chain. To me....it taste more like Tex Mex rather than authentic Mexican. I am going to check the Black Angus out online. Thanks

I am not finding Black Angus listed for FL. :confused3

Ed -

We just ate at Black Angus when we went in April.

It's usually our big dinner when we go to Disney. I love that when I order shrimp coctail I get the real deal. Not wimpy little shrimp but big beautiful ones.

We LOVE Flippers Pizza. They have the BEST breadsticks ever (they taste like mom's homemade bread) and they make their own marinara sauce, too. Their flat bread pizza's are wonderful, too! There's a new one at the Crossroads shopping center off Hotel Plaza Boulevard close to Downtown Disney.

Chevy's is good and we try to eat their each trip, but it is more California "Fresh Mex" than "Tex Mex" since we eat that all the time living in Houston.

Jim.

We love, love, love Charley's steakhouse. All of the usual chain restaurants are easily available. Charley's is a local chain. They have a location across from Celebration. They are pricier than an Outback but less expensive than a ruth's Chris or Shula's. Servings are large, it is casual, impeccable service, and great food. Highly recommend it. Look it up on the Internet and check it out. Never had a bad meal there and I think the steaks beat the one I had at shula's for double the price.

If you want to explore a bit on your own try OpenTable. I use this around the country to find restaurants and make reservations. Not every restaurant is there, but there is usually a more then sufficient selection.

Love, love, love Sweet Tomatoes at the Crossroads. It's an all you can eat HEALTHY buffet. HUGE salad bar plus soups, chili, pasta, mac and cheese, ciabbatta bread, veggies, desserts. Yummy strawberry lemonade. I can't wait to head to Disney at the end of the month to go to Sweet Tomatoes.:goodvibes

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. I love going there and eating healthy, because most of the Disney food is so unhealthy.

I think it's foccacia, not ciabatta bread.

Boston Lobster Feast by the Convention Center. All you can eat seafood.

:earsboy: Bill

We love Flippers also!

Where is a good place to go for breakfast? We are staying at the Regal Sun (one of the DTD hotels) one night before we check into SSR. We have never stayed at either the Regal Sun or SSR so we don't know where to go for breakfast.

Thanks!

There is a Perkins in Crossroads Center and there is an IHOP on the left on S Apopka Vineland Rd just after you make a left from Hotel Blvd. Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD has some good breakfast items also.

We always go to that Perkins before we go to Port Canaveral. That's the only Perkins I've ever been to so I have nothing to compare with but it is REALLY good!

We :lovestruc Celebration Town Tavern! My DH is from Connecticut, and he said their food reminds him of home. Everything was so fresh and wonderful! We're hoping to go back soon on a Friday night to try their lobster chowder. (That's the only night it's available.) Here are a couple of pics:

We also really like Miller's Orlando Ale House. It's right around the corner from SSR, and they have a huge variety of food at great prices.

Another vote for Black Angus right outside of downtown disney, it's a smaller place not associated with the chain of Stewart Anderson's so you may not find it online. Great food and huge portions. Other than that there are quite a few chain restaurants right outside of downtown disney (fudruckers, chevy's, ihop, etc..)

Tina

Another Sweet Tomatoes fan here! I belong to their fan club and they are always sending me buy one, get one free emails. I just went to the web site and signed up!

Our DD loves Pizza Hut, and though we have one in our town, it is on the rough side. So when in the area we eat at PH on Apopka Vineland Rd.

There is an ihop right next to the Black Angus. Sometimes my family sits and orders my dinner in Black Angus and I walk next door for pancakes for the little one which he eats while we are eating steak.

My favorite thing at this Black Angus is the 2 lobster tail meal. They usually give you 3 tails and then I steal some steak from my family because the portions are so big they can never eat it all. :)

Another vote for Sweet Tomatoes!! Way good. Lots of variety, really nice folk, all good. Someone on these boards mentioned it once and we tried it two trips ago and now it's a favorite. some of these others sound good also.
