Does anyone know if DVC members receive discounts on Disneyland Annual Passes? If discounts are available, how much are they? Thanks for your help!

A lousy $20! :scared1: It's the same discount you'd get if you renewed your AP. So, if you renew and you have DVC the discount is $0! Our guide told us there was a discount on APs, but he "couldn't remember" exactly what it is. When I saw it in the paperwork I thought to myself that I would have used the "couldn't remember" line if I was selling DVC.......

I'm hopeful that when VGC opens that someone will figure out that a real DVC discount on APs would be a good thing!

ITA! Once VGC opened, I thought there would be a better discount. It's disappointing. DVC should offer something better.

Why?

Seriously why should they give us discounts? It's a perk and it's nice but... they don't have to give us anything and I honestly don't see why they give folks that are pretty much "captured" audience a discount!

If you are going before the end of May, 2009, you can get a better discount by buying your Deluxe AP at SoCal Costcos. The price is $269 (regular price) but includes a $50 gift card. It must be activated by May 31 to get the gift card. -- Suzanne

The Costco AP has quite a few blackout dates. I far preferred Costco's "4 Days of Play" pass! (I wish they'd bring those back to to the stores!)

The "costco" AP has the same blackout dates as a normal AP. (Unless you buy the Deluxe AP)

Thanks for all of the information. It is now my understanding that there is a 1 time discount of $20 for the Disneyland AP.

As far as the perks go, I agree that a $20 discount is better than nothing. Looks like the pricing of the tickets will influence our staying habits at Disneyland. Since our family will be driving around 6 hours to Disneyland, we will probably get a 3 or 4 day pass to Disneyland (once per year) rather than an AP (visiting twice a year). This will also have a factor on how many points we purchase.

I appreciate the information we have been reading on the boards. In addition to the original points costs and the MFs, we also need to factor in the price of the tickets too. I know that DVC is a business and that they are not obligated to provide the owners with any perks but it would have been nice if the perks included discounts on tickets for DVC owners. They offer 10% discounts on restaurants, it would have been great if they offered something like that on tickets.

I didn't buy DVC while we were @ WDW a couple of years ago because we go to CA more often & it seemed like DL was the ugly step-sister in DVC's eyes. VGC sucked us in!!!!:thumbsup2 However, the discount on a WDW AP is 20%-ish (I think?), but the discount on a DL AP is 0%? Somehow I don't think DVC has made a glass slipper in my size yet.....

It's not going to make a difference in how often we go, but we might have bought an AP for Grandma if it was less. Of course, we might do that still.....:scared:

The Costco AP *is* a Deluxe, with blockout dates. It's the second AP "down". The Premium AP is the one with no blockout dates, 15% discount on most food, and 10% discount on most merchandise (Deluxe has no special discount on merchandise* and only 10% discount on most food).

Now you can buy that Costco Deluxe and use the $50 giftcard to help upgrade to Premium, and use the DVC rate as what you're upgrading to...and that can be a nice one-time discount. :)

Many people do not renew every single year, so you're not always getting the renewal discount anyway. We didn't renew, we just bought new, as we had no planned trips and it seemed a waste of money to renew in Sept with nothing on the horizon (and we did have a family trip in Dec, so I'm glad we didn't waste those 3 months!).

*all DLR APs have a discount on certain places in DTD like Wetzel's Pretzels and such, but only the Premium is supposed to give you a discount on World of Disney and the Disney owned places inside the parks.
